ZLauncher 3.2B2 is out on PalmGear.com. http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?prodID=43812
Here are the additions:
Added ability to manually sort app icons. Note, this feature is only available for Application tabs.
Added options to specify the max columns of Icon View and List View. Now you can specify the column width when you are not using Average icon alignment.
Added an option of the File Manager to hide the 'a68k' databases.
Added more color display in the File Manager to distinguish Read-Only and Hidden items.
Added File Manager Preferences to setup the preferences of File Manager.
Added ability to list apps' version string in the File Manager.
Added an option to specify the icon highlight.
Disabled 1-bit and 2-bit color depth modes, due to the compatible issue with PalmOS 5.
Miscellaneous updates and bug-fixes.

The "screen refreshing" problem still remains :-(
http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14174
I hate the screen to refresh for a short period sometimes when exit from other apps to ZLauncher.
Has any other guys have the same problem as I'm having here?
Thanks.

I am using an NX70 and have not had the issue you have described, sorry! I don't run a lot of DA's or hacks, as I feel it complicates things even more. The less the better. I only use JogPage Hack with Tealmaster. Even in a desktop PC, too many things running can slow performance as well as adding additional features to ZL would too.
Write to ZZTech directly and give your particular issue to them. The NX with it's faster processor it's difficult for me to tell whether it has slowed up or not.

Hi Cameron!
How did you find the beta? I got the email from ZZTech, but when I went to PalmGear, all I could find was the regular 3.1 version.
Thanks!

I found it there this morning. Try refreshing your browser. You may be seeing a cached version of the page.

This beta is very nice. One thing that I found confusing and at least one other beta tester found confusing is the idea behind max columns. Here's how it works:The idea is basically a grid concept. Say for example, you have max columns set to 5 and icon set to 3, with alignment set to Left. What the 5 is doing is making a grid of 5 columns on the part of your display where icons go. Then what the 3 is doing is saying to only put icons in the leftmost 3 columns of the grid, so you get 2 columns worth of empty space on the right. So basically, the higher the number of max columns, the less horizontal space there will be between icons. I think it's a clever idea, but hard to understand until you see it in action.

I have commented to the folks at ZZtechs about this...I notice that when I launch ZLauncher my Memory Stick access light turns on momentarily. However the pause happens w/ and w/o a memstick loaded. If they can get rid of the pause (probably disable or provide the option to disable/enable the 'memory stick seek' process) the launcher would then be "PERFECT" in my mind.

There is an option to turn off the autosync /palm/launcher folder, is that what you want.
This beta is pretty nice:);)

Is there any option in the new beta -- or one I've missed in the existing version -- that allows you default to a plain tab background on the list/details view without manually resetting the background to none?
That's the one feature I've always wanted in Zlauncher. I like to use complicated backgrounds and the details view is pretty much unreadable most of the time, tho I like to use it occasionally for a quick summary of what's on the Clie and what kind of space the apps are using.

No, there's no option like that, though you could use the ZL File Manager for the quick summary. It won't be stratified by your categories, though.

Though I'm not the one who posted the question, thanks. I had no idea that's what was going on.
:)
ZLauncher newbie, and loving it!

Hi Larry,
Check out my note in the front page regarding the download for 3.20B2. I believe there's a problem with Palmgear's update script.

Thanks for the info, Ridunn. . . .
I like file manager for really detailed breakdowns, but the launcher details view is nice for giving total size on an app and all its databases. I use it in the "all" category so file manager would be fine, if there's an added sort option in the new version to show an apps-only list that does the math for me?

Great new release ZZTechs! :) File Manager is so full-featured that I see no reason to keep an external one like FileZ around any longer! ZL is definately the best $12 I've invested in my PDA! ;)

can someone post a screenshot of how the icon spacing looks now? I am at work, and then I have class tonight, so I won't be able to play with it until early tomorrow morning..

Well, basically what the new setup does is give you a lot more flexibility about how far apart you want the icons to be. Here's a screenshot with max columns set to 3 and number of columns set to 2.

Yea, I didn't understand what that option did, but I do like it. I actually didn't find out what that feature was for until I e-mailed ZZTechs asking for a horizontal margin alignment feature because I had the max colums set to 5 and only had 3 columns showing, so they were crammped.

tried beta 2. Manual sorting is still not working quite right. apps on the card are placed in no particular order at the beginning of the list of files in a tab (apps in RAM appear in the order I sorted them in sans /Palm/Launcer apps at the end of the list). But I am getting no crashes so it is a stable beta. I have sent a bug report to ZZTechs so hopefully the manual sorting issue will be fixed before the final release.

That doesn't happen on my NX, so maybe it's device-specific.

WHen I switch from Icon mode to List mode is appears as though the headers for the list are on top of the tops of the first row of icons. WHen I turn the unit off and then back on the image cleans up.
Anyone else see this?

Check the jpg on the PC -- that error normally comes up with jpgs have been saved in "progressive" format. Do a "save as" and if it's set to "progressive", change it to stsandard.

I noticed the exact same thing. Turning off and then on doesn't work for me. What works though is to exit ZL and then start it again.

I don't see the list or detail view problem on my T665C.

What I dont understand is why they dont just do Horizontal Icon Margin. That way the icons can be customized to the nearest pixel, rather than a certain column width. Still the column feature works nice, just it would be better if there was a horizontal margin that works just like the vertical margin allignment.

Anita-
Progressive scan was the culprit. Thanks for your 'smarts'!

OK, so someone help me out here. How do I get 2 columns to be in the furthest left and right margins, leaving the middle of the screen open? I have icons set to 2 and max columns set to 10 with average alignment (anyone following me?) but they are still towards the middle of the screen.

Icon setup should be Middle,2 columns and 2 max. This is as wide as I can get them.

Yah, not exactly what I'm looking for. I thought if I set max to 10 it would push them out to the farthest edges but I guess not.
Personally, I'm still looking for the "trashbin" to use compression as does MegaLauncher.
