Well, I've had an N760C for a couple of years and figured it was time to upgrade. So, I got an NZ90.

Great. It shows up today. I charge it and then attach the USB cable and press HotSync. Nothing happens (it says it can't connect).

So, I reinstall the desktop. Nothing. I reinstall the MSImport software and I am able to connect to the Memory Stick while the NZ is in the cradle, so the hardware is hooked up correctly.

But, it just won't Hotsync. I plugged the old N760C in and it Hotsynced perfectly, so the software is set up and working correctly.

I'm ready to tear my hair out. Any suggestions?

Try a hard reset if you are back up, it worked for me.

I hope you didn't try to HotSync the N760C stuff directly to your new NZ. That's a definite no-no due to the OS differences.

The link below maybe of some help.

Enjoy your new unit :)!

BTW, the NZ and NX are very similar in the OS.

I tried a hard reset--several times now. And, I *was* planning on syncing my N760C stuff directly to it, but I couldn't even get that far, since it fails to connect when I press the hotsync button (but now I realize I shouldn't port all the N760 stuff).

I've been able to limp along by using MSImport to copy PRC files to the memory stick and then copying them from the stick to the NZ, but I'd rather be able to do a hotsync.

And so far, I'm not too thrilled with the new OS. I realized that I'd be giving up me beloved Hacks when I switched, but I'm starting to realize that almost every other program that I want to run (AppForge, PiDirect, Isilo, etc.) seems to not run or run poorly under OS5.

You might want to install the updated Palm Desktop from Sony. That might solve it. You might want to uninstall the current Palm Desktop first though.

If you re-installed PalmDesktop (from NZ CD-ROM), then when you pressed HotSync button, check Device Manager in System Properties first. Mostly the problem is the USB driver was not installed correctly.

Thanks Reggie,

That new Sony desktop solved the problem perfectly.
