Question about Clie RMC

I just purchased a refurbished 665. After receiving it, I decided to try out Clie RMC. I was able to set it up to work with my TV without difficulty. Unfortunately, I can't set it up to work with anything else. When I click on "Select" and then "New", the set up screen comes up fine. When I click on the "Category" drop down list, however, the only option that shows is TV. There is no option for VCR, DVD player or anything. There are drop down lists for all the other options (Maker, Mode, Button) but not for category. What am I missing? I have tried reading the manual, but if there is an explanation there I am missing it. Any help would be appreciated.

you need to install the rest of the definitions from the included cd,
just choose to install it and hotsync
and it should work well.

Thanks for the tip--I got it working. Now another question. Once I have set up my VCR, DVD player, etc. do the definitions have to stay in RAM? They take up a fair amount of room and it would be nice if they could go on the MS.

the definitions have to stay in RAM. The program itself can be moved to the card.

Personally I'd use something else like OmniRemote, it's a lot smaller because it learns.

I used to have the t665c and loved the clie rmc remote program. I recently purchased the sj33 because the t665 crapped out on me, but the disk that came with my sj33 didnt have the clie rmc program on it. How can i get that program again?????

The SJ33 doesn't come with RMC program because it doesn't have the enhanced infrared hardware.  From what I've read in other threads, the SJ33 is terrable as a remote, with around a 5' range.:(

Grab Jackflash and move your ClieRMC definition files to ROM :-D They will run great, and you will get your RAM back.
