I am beginning to get attachments in Docx format so I have been trying out the demo of Docs-to-go 10. Unfortunately they have removed support for some older versions of Word and also Word To Go etc. Is there any way to run different versions of Docs-to-go on the same Palm? I wondered if there was a way to uninstall one version and install another as needed. Anyone know?

I don't suggest running more than one version of Documents to go on your handheld as it will most likely end up in a conflict and several other problems. Convert all your old files to newer microsoft standards, either the new docx format or office 97-2003 format. I'm afraid with new technologies also comes the need to sometimes discontinue old standards.

You cannot run more than one version at a time on your pda, or computer. Time to choose which features mean the most to you, and stick with a version.

Sorry, but I have to confirm that you can only run one version of Docs-To-Go on your PDA.

For Power Users ONLY (you would really have to be a geek) - there is probably a way to run more than one version of Docs-To-Go on your PC - but it would really be a headache to manage. I Do Not Advise this!

On a positive note: If you have two PDAs, you can run a different version of Docs-To-Go on each of them, as long as your desktop version of Docs-To-Go is compatible with both. I'm currently running Docs-To-Go 7 on both my desktop and TX, and Docs-To-Go 8 on my Treo 680. I have yet to find any compatibilities problems between them, even when I have the same document on all three platforms and make changes on any of those platforms (individually). I will admit that I haven't been tempted to make changes on all three platforms at the same time yet, but individual changes on any platform are successfully hotsynced to the other two platforms.

Unfortunately they have removed support for some older versions of Word and also Word To Go etc.
I suggest you call DataViz and talk to a support rep. Perhaps it's as simple as rolling your PDA back to version 9 (or even 8) to get the features you need for incoming email attachments. I'm sure that if you explain your situation, they will be able to help. I've always received good support from DataViz, the few times I've had a need to talk to them.

Thanks everyone for your contributions. It is as I suspected. I just thought there might be some hack out there which enabled multiple versions to be used. Dataviz are very clear on their website that if you want to retain Word-to-Go etc then you have to stay with version 8 or below.

I have just found a way to do it, but it's a bit of a kludge
Basically you create 2 folders on an sd card. One called 'Docstogo8' and the other called 'Docstogo10'. You then copy all the files for each version into the respective folders. Say your Palm is running version 10 but you want 8, you browse to the folder 'Docstogo8' using RescoExplorer, select all and then install all to ram.
