System Wide Proxy

Hello all,
I am having a problem whereby my GPRS provider uses a proxy server to gain access to the internet. I would like to know and be assisted in finding out about any program that can enforce a system wide proxy setting in my treo 650 since most applications don't have proxy settings. As it is presently I am able to browse and use programs that have a proxy setting built in quite efficiently but when I try a program that doesn't entail these settings I get nada. My proxy settings are ip: 10.0.1.99 || port: 8080, username and password not required for proxy.

practically impossible for nay app the uses its own implementation of http (u'd have to parse http, re-format it, and resend]. Slightly easier if app sues system http library.

Thanks for the quick reply, I was away for a while. I understand what you are saying, can you tell me if there is any email and general chat application that has proxy settings built in?
