GTA update for NX

Ive got the GTA demo files from a post on here (just search for gta). And found that it works fine on my OS5 NX70v.

Only problem is, its abit like running Zap2000 instead on 2016. You get it running in a tiny box that is repeated across the top of the screen.

Just wondered if anyone with any programming knowledge of Palm OS could possibly modify the files to run at full screen 320x320. Im sure all us NX users would be even happy to pay for a patch that would get it working :D I know i would!

GTA is dead! Finshed! Kaput! Expired! No more! Pushing up the daisies!

Licensing for this game was never issued and so development was halted in 2001. Even if you got the source code for this, you still could not modify it since it still doesn't have a license.

Then you'd have the challenge of converting the entire code to OS5 compatibility.

Please stop asking for updates, patches and new beta releases. "Now go away or I will have to taunt you again"!! :)

The only problem being its in 160x160.

Surely it cant be that difficult to make something to stretch the dam thing out to 320x320.

what? The astraware game? Dude they are selling it right now! They are making a high-res version with OS5 sound too (right now it is slick on OS5 but kinda ugly).

Pen-Pen is correct - that Astraware produced GTS Racing Challenge. This is a racing game and has nothing to do with GTA (Grand Theft Auto).

mattyj2002 - you still don't get it. It is not software development that is the problem. It is getting the licensing to develop and sell it. If Rockstar refuses to license the product, then there is absolutely no use to develop it if you can't make money back from it. I said that OS5 compatibility is an issue as some users could not get it working in OS5. The fact that you have on yours is a bonus, but it doesn't mean it is OS5 compatible!

(A good example would be buying a software that was written on Win98. It may work on Win2K or XP, but it doesn't mean it is 2K or XP compatible! Perhaps it may be the other way round!).

Please stop asking for "simple" feature upgrades like "let's make it 320x320" since you are barking up a non-existent tree! The software developer has discontinued development 2 years ago in 2001.

That was a classic movie with with original (and completely bent and twisted) humour. I think it changed the way we view humour ... and we can still blame the Brits for it! :D

How is that considered working? You can't play it...its just like any other low-res game that won't work in a hi-res environment.

GTA Classic is available as a free download for PC (from RockStar games web site)... don't see why they can't let it be available for Palm OS as well if someone wants to port it... :-\

Back to the topic at hand. Just because Rockstar has made GTA Classic a free PC download does not obviate the fact that Rockstar never issued the Palm game a license. Hence - classic or not, if it ain't licensed, it doesn't get a run. Period. Kaput!

I can't quite understand what part of "no" you don't understand! What happens on the PC platform is irrelevant as an argument to whether the Palm game ever got a license.

No one has the full version except the developers, and they're not going to "patch" it. Rockstar would know what they did.

Stop beating this dead horse. There's been no news on it for like a year or two. NOTHING is happening with the GTA game.
