View Full Version : Mostly Dead LifeFlash questions

I have a LifeFlash that is not dead, only mostly dead.

Actually it's not that bad, but I do have a problem and have some questions.

Here's the backgroud:

I have this LifeFlash that I've been using for a few months and it's been great. I have a 4G DaneElec card that didn't work with DDing an image, but worked great with PowerDrive. Now it stopped working. I recently started charging it with a USB charger/sych cable I got off ebay, so maybe that wasn't such a great idea, but it seemed to work good at first. One day it was just dead, charged with the regular charge cable and the LED stayed orange all night. Then I opened it up, unplugged the battery, plugged it back in and all was good - for a little while, half a day maybe. I've done this a few times and it just dies after a while. I've noticed that it's better if I don't use the power/lock switch. I just turn it on with the app button, and let it time off. Using it this way is good for a day or so. One thing I noticed is that when it get's in the locked up mode, it get's hot and the battery is draining very fast. While it's working, everything seems normal, the charging light turns green when it's done.

From what I've read around, it seems like a mother board issue. Since motherboards are so expensive, I'm going to just go with something else and now I need to part with my precious LifeFlash. So, I was thinking about putting the MD back into the LifeDrive and selling it on ebay "as is" for parts and selling the CF separately. My question is does the PowerDrive upgrade affect anything about the LifeDrive once the MD is back in?

Unless someone has any ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks

I saw another weird thing last night. My LifeFlash was "working" fine, but then when I went to use wifi, my wifi button on the bottom was gone. Just a blank spot where it should be. I started Blazer and it connected as usual. I did a soft reset and now everything looks and works normally.

dmitry,

Thanks for the followup. I was hoping you would see my post. Thanks for all your work. I was glad to buy PowerDrive and support your work a little. I just wish I could have enjoyed it a little longer. One question that I've had that I'm just interested in, is where is the "ROM" exactly. Is it actually on the MD or CF, or is there a small ROM chip on the MB? Thanks.
