Seeing as there has been no new PDAs from palm aside from the very last second cancelled folio I was wondering about the future of their devices. Seeing as there are quite a few palm smartphones is this the future of Palm? Do we have no hopes of seeing more innovative and advanced models of PDAs? My interest was peaked with the Folio as it appeared to be closer to what I want in a PDA. I've not looked around much since when the Folio was expected to be released on what devices are out there. Perhaps it is time for me to see whats out there again and see if anything new has surfaced. My ideal PDA hasn't changed. I still want the functionality I'm used to from palm PDAs but with so much more.
My ideal PDA (basically like a laptop in my pocket):
Instant on and off
Integrated full keyboard thats not too small but allows the device to fit in a pocket such as a side pocket in cargo pants.
Plenty of internal memory for applications.
At least one card slot (SD preferably)
Touch screen and/or mouse like navigation (my Blackberry Curve has mouse like)
Multitasking (I have found at times this would be handy from using my T5)
OS is not set in stone though I'm partial to anything but microsoft and it would be nice if I could use software from more than one platform.
Quite awhile ago there was news that new devices from Palm would have a linux OS but would be able to run all the previous palm OS software on it as well. I liked that idea because there are a number of apps on palm I like plus there is a good broad selection of free and paid software that I can add to my device if I want. Plus if the device can run more than one platforms software this broadens that range of software available to use as well.
