i have a windows nt (i.e. no usb connection) as my home computer. i currently have a N610c and have been using the sony serial cradle (PEGA-SC500) to hotsync. i'm seriously considering upgrading to the T665c and i read that it has a different hotsync port than that of the N610C. true? if so, then i will not be able to use my current serial cradle. what are my options now?

thanks in advance.

The T665c also comes with its own USB cradle so you dont need to worry.

unfortunately, with nt 4.0, the usb port is disabled, which is why i have been relying on the old sony serial cradle. do you know if the hotsync connector on the n610c is different than the t665c?

Yes, its different. But I know the T665c has a serial cradle as well but have to purchase it separately.

Yes, you will have to purchase a serial cable for the 665. The T-series and NR-series and SJ/SL series use the same connector, which is different from previous Clie models. I would recommend getting the belkin Y-sync connecter, since it has both USB and serial connections. Even though NT does not recognize the USB port, you can still charge your 665 when you plug it the USB, too.

I also think there has been a $10 price drop at Circuit City (where I bought mine a few months ago). I would highly recommend buying the y-sync since if you do not use the serial any more, it doesn't become obsolete.

Since the T665C stock is being "phased out" you can very likely pick up a bargain on a serial cradle for one. If you find one, speak to the manager and you might be able to convince him/her of the unlikeliness of them selling theirs other than to you . . . and offer them your price! :)

Older Clie (S and N series) plug have 13-pin connector.  The newer models (T, NR, SL, SJ, NR, NX?, NZ?) have 18-pin connector.

thanks to everyone for your feedback. i did a search on ebay and found a hotsync cradle for the clie t series that can be used for EITHER a serial port or a USB port.

in case you're interested, here's the link:

I just picked up one of these cradles to be able to sync at my office which in on NT and needed the serial capability. I haven't tested synching yet, but when my SJ30 is in the cradle and on, the screen flickers. Has anyone else had this problem, or any other problem with this cradle?

yes, i've noticed that it flickers when in the cradle, but stops once its removed. i just (don't know for sure) it's b/c of the charging. i don't believe its harmful. if anyone thinks different, please let me know.

thanks.

Has anybody confirmed whether the Belkin y-sync cable works with Windows NT? Their website says that it doesn't, but I'm not sure if their just referring to the USB part.

Also, does the cradle described above work with Windows NT?

Thanks!

Still looking for a way to HotSync on NT machine ? Let me recommend to you this one from Global Source - the parent company of Cliesource. It's a serial HotSync cable. Here's the link:

Innopocket Serial Cable for Sony T Series (http://www.glblsrc.com/shop/customer/product.php?productid=23)

Cheers!

Yes, the Belkin Y-sync works well with NT; even though you sync through the serial port, you can still charge your Clie through the USB connection.
Why would you buy a serial-only cable (for a similar price) if you can go with both connections? If your firm upgrades to XP, the y-sync would not be obsolete.
