Hello,

I recently bought a 2gb memory stick pro duo for my TH55. However, the card doesn't work in my unit, which is weird, because I tested it in a TJ35, a cybershot and my NX60 and the card works without a problem. It also works with a card reader. The card by the way, is original (it includes all the manuals and fits the description of the original package).

So I thought the problem was with the clie itself, but other memory sticks pro duo work flawlessly. I tried reformatting the 2gb card first using the other clies and then via disk utility, but none of that worked. Hard reset didn't work either. Once again, the card worked on all the devices except the th55 after each reformat.

To sum it up, this particular card doesn't work in the TH55, has anybody had a similar problem? Is there any suggestions for possible solutions? I cannot return the card, it was shipped from overseas and I would have to pay shipping again. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Make sure the write protect switch if pushed fully to one side. Try it with write-protect on and see if it works.

Unfortunately, this particular model of Memory stick doesn't have any write protection switch. The card is in fact detected by the clie, but it doesn´t even appear in the file manager. When I press "details" I get the following:

(unknown media)
Manuf: (Unknown media)
Type: (Unknown media)

Status:
This card cannot be recognized. The card may be defective or there may not be enough battery power.

The TH55 is fully charged and as I said the card works ok in another 2 clies, a camera and a card reader (so I don't think is defective). Could it be that the ms slot is dirty or something like that? Are there any safe methods to clean it? (though as I said other ms cards work in the TH55 without problems, except for this one).

What MS Duo is it?

The black ones and 'extreme speed' ones are known to have problems in Cliés.

The most compatible MS (Duo) Pros are the 1st gen (Pearly white) and 2nd gen (Pearly blue), but they are also the slowest...

The Cliés don't support any of the high speed modes anyway 'tho.

This MS duo is black color (though it is not one of the "high speed" ones), so maybe it is indeed one of those that has problems with clies. It just seems like bad luck that it works in the other two clies I tested it in and not in the one I bought it for.
