Upgrading to NX from NR? How?

I'm assuming I can't just hotsync my new NX. Because the NR and NX use different versions of the operating system, I'm afraid a simple hotsync will install files that shouldn't be installed on the new system. Help on this matter will be greatly appreciated. I hotsync under both Mac and Windows.
