I think someone here would have to be crazy to spend $725 on it at this point, when new clies are just around the corner.

Well I would still go ahead and buy one... the new Clie is clearly not going to be a high end one and the NZ has all that I want. If there is any reason I would wait, it would be to see if the prices will drop further. But I doubt Sony would come out with anything better than NZ... unless ofcourse they get a Clie to do the dishes!

I really don't understand the appeal of this model.
Maybe ok for someone who doesn't care about size, and wants a crappy built in camera. For that size might as well get a laptop, right?

Like this has never been discussed here before?
Yea, let me get a laptop for work. So when I'm riding around on my forklift and need to check prices for my customers, I'm sure my laptop will fit in my jeans pocket, boot up in 1 second, take pretty decent pictures when I need it, and record my voice memos on the go. Come on...its perfect for what I need. If you don't like it, don't get it, and don't worry about it!

The NZ series is awsome! LAN connector, fast, great camera for starters.

yes, the NZ is probably suited from some people. But I think Sony only really created it to raise the bar....a flagship model if you will.

I don't understand though why you'd spend hundreds extra to get a camera (which adds a lot of bulk to the already bulky device) that is not even that great of quality. Yes it's better than the NX, but 2mp (it is 2mp right?) is not so useful for printing photographs (you can see the individual pixels, unless you print them in sizes smaller than a standard photo size). 3mp is where digital cameras become more of a good alternative to a regular camera. $600-800 also seems like a lot to invest in a unit with an OS that will be replaced possibly in 5 months or so, espeically if you already have an NX or something. This is just my opinion though, the NZ does not appeal to me at all :)

Huh? A good 2 MP camera (i.e., not one by some company better known for mice or cheapo film cameras; one that has a decent, optical-quality lens on it) will print fine pictures at 4 in x 6 in and, depending on camera settings, could even handle 5 in x 7 in without seeing "individual pixels."
I have no idea how much flexibility Sony provided in the NZ camera; I would imagine they had to compromise some to get it in the NZ case without spending a fortune. So maybe it's not the best 2 MP camera out there. And I have no interest in putting anything else in my PDA -- not cameras, not mobile phones, not digital music players -- so the NZ has no appeal to me. But for people who need it all in one package, the NZ has nothing to apologize for.

UGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!! some like it, some don't. It fits the needs of some, it does not fit the needs of others. I'm Democrat, your Republican. He's a Muslim, she's a Christian, and He's a Buddhist. it is what it is and some will never understand the appeal of one thing to the other person and vice versa. Get frickin over it already. this is not a real argument or debate, its a relatively retarded attempt at technical proselytization. Why bother, thats why this site has forums for each model. In closing, BLEH!

I don't know, I had a 2mp Kodak digital camera with optical zoom etc. The pictures printed out dont look nearly as nice as my new 3mp sony camera. The brand shouldnt matter if you can see the individual pixels or not, since a 2mp camera is a 2mp camera. If you have a cheap printer and arent using photo paper, the colors are going to bleed together a bit though, and you wont be able to make out individual pixels.
Wow, you have no interest in putting a digital music player in your PDA, and that is one of the reasons you dont want the NZ? Every PDA that comes out now has a music player in it.

2 Mpixels are truly enough for most point and shoot applications. I've used a coolpix 3.3 Mp and a Canon digital elf 2 Mp, and there is not a big difference in quality due to resolution. Optical zoom, etc is another story.
I am looking at the NZ because I feel 2 Mp IS a big difference over the NX camera's 1 Mp, and I don't mind the clamshell size.
I've also used a T Clie, and I do appreciate the advantages of a PDA that does fit in my pocket.

P.S. Kodak digital cameras are not nearly as nice as Canon or Nikon for image quality.
I've been using an Epson 6 color photo printer for years, 2 Mp vs 3 Mp is not a big deal on 4 x 6 prints.
Try reducing your resolution of your 3 Mp images to 2 Mp using photoshop and compare prints if you really want to see the difference resolution makes.

What's with all the 2MP bashing here?
I own a Nikon Coolpix 950, which is 2.1MP. The pics that it shoots are superb, expecially when you print them out from a nice photo printer at full size (paper size, that is).
Since the cam on the NZ is 2MP, I would expect no less, since it is made by Sony. Yes, it's thick, but if you look at the feature set, the thickness wouldn't even matter.

If it's as poor quality as the NX camera (even though it's a larger resolution), it's not so good. http://www.brighthand.com/images/nz90_review_16.jpg It's higher quality, but still not as good as a normal 2mp digital camera.
About 2mp at normal photo size, I'm sorry, I was wrong about that. However, a full page photo on a good printer with photo paper is not going to look so good with 2mp. At least 3mp should be used for full page prints for it to be comparable with a regular camera.
