Alan you should have a GMT time, using your American times is a pain because you have so many its hard for outsides to understand. The rest of the world uses GMT this way we can even use for example WindowsXP clock to see your GMT.

US is in a range of GMT -5 and -8. You say Pacific time than it most be GMT -8, is this correct? If so I'm on GMT 0, so its -8 hours for me

Since the US is in DST, the 1src chat in the Philippines is 9AM Sunday. Unfortunately for me, I'm always out Sunday mornings.

Alan,

In your Treo750 ANTI-WM rant you used an example of going thru the menu system to get to your alarms ... there is a short cut ... just tap on the time on the home/today screen and it takes you to your alarms.

I am feeling your pain ... as i am trying to use the Palm o/s and i find it as annoying as you find WM :) ... i got a Centro for uber cheap ($49) and i am trying to adjust.

I was supposed to join the chat. I forgot to setup my Treo, I am using mobile clock and I forgot the turn on the alarm. I will wait again another week before I can join the chat again.

I think MS should simplify the way user can access such simple and vital features like alarms, it should have been a no brainer for users to do that kind of simple task in Windows Mobile. That is the role of mobile device, to make people more efficient and productive on the go, and it requires not only features, but also accessibility and simplicity to do just that.

Actually, alarms are pretty easy to get to. Just tap or click on the very first Today screen plugin, the one with the date, and you'll go right there.

In fact, most of Alan's criticisms are easily addressed and/or explained. The crappy icons, for example, come from different sources. The AT&T one he mentioned was made by... AT&T. That's what happens when you have a device that takes a Microsoft OS, device manufacturer engineering and carrier customizations and mixes them all together. Palm doesn't have as much control as Apple over the end user experience, but they have considerably more than Microsoft.

And I totally don't get the "I can't get to the soft buttons at the bottom of the screen with the d-pad" comment. That's what the two hardware soft buttons are for. Why click around on the d-pad when you have dedicated buttons? Sounds like someone looking for something to complain about.
