Hello everyone,

A while ago, quite a while ago actually, there was some discussion on this keybaord. There were mixed opinions, but I'd like to say that now, having used it for quite some time, that it is really useful. The drivers have been updated (currently 1.6,08), and now, I don't have any "delay" when typing, and haven't been able to max out the driver, making it think something is being beamed from another unit (before I would regularly type too fast for it to work, and would pop up annoying message box). I am  now able to type full speed with no problem in WordSmith, and enjoy having the slight bit more freedom in being able to move my CLIE around the desktop rather than having it fixed in one spot on the keyboard. I guess this is useful sometimes because of the "duller" screen on my T-415.

As long as you don't mind the key size (which isn't that big of a deal for my smaller hands), the fact that you sometimes have to hit a couple of extra keys, and the fact that it uses a little bit more battery, I'd say that this is a very practical device which easily fits in your pocket (very small, same size as the CLIE in DSI Pocket Armor case, and that's with the stand attached to the keyboard).

The stand is sometimes a pain, but....

Just giving everyone another look.

Wow. I have the same setup, a DSI case for my T415 and the pocket top keyboard... and as time goes on I like it less and less. The drivers are fine and include nice features, but at the point where I bought the device under the impression that there would be rotaional drivers and to date there are none and little sign of there ever being..., it is just a burden to type on. I can never find the "sweet spot" on the stand where i can actually get it to pick up the IR signal. It is just too hard to move around to get it to work. When I do get it to work, the signal often breaks or repeats itself. I am just not satisfied with it. Does anyone know of a word processor that has built in rotational software... that might make this thing a little more usable.

Ya, I wish they had rotation. Was bummed when I had first found out that it didn't work.

http://www.pocketirkeyboard.com/simple.htm That's getting closer, but no way to power an NR70 while typing on that model either.

Is anyone using this keyboard (pocketirkeyboard) with their Clie? Opinions? I really like this idea if it works well.

I discovered I could use my Pocketop keyboard better if I put my Clie in the charging cradle and use a small mirror on a stick (inspection mirror) to aim the beam- gave me a pretty big 'sweet spot'.

I suspect, therefore, that the size and quality of the reflector, as well as the angle it is in, are the big problems with keeping it in the 'sweet spot'.

When I had my NR70 with the Pocketop Keyboard, I had a hack that disabled the screen from reversing when it was swiveled. With that enabled, I rotated the swivel which placed the IR port pointing toward the keyboard and allowed the NR screen to be supported by the clie base. Typed away with no problems and no mirrors.

BTW, I've got an NX now and can't use the pocketop, so if anyone with an NR is looking.....

srod... i already replied to your post on the keyboard i mentioned and just so you know, that keyboard does not require mirrors or rotational software at all. it's all one unit- stand, keyboard, and ir transmitter.

so who's tried it?
