Okay I finally figured out how to get the new skin loaded, and I even got a background installed by copying it into the appropriate directory and selecting it. But now I want to make my own skin from a jpeg and the instructions give three options, none of which work for me.
Option 1 is: Drag a supported picture file to the Create BackImage/ShortCut button, then it will be converted into a background image, and set as the current background image automatically.

Where is the "Create BackImage?ShortCut button? It's not listed in the top/bottom button choices.

The second option calls for me to:
Tap on the supported picture file for one second, then select "Back Image" from the popup menu.

That doesn't work either. "Back Image" does not appear in the pop up menu.

The third option asks me to get the jpeg into the themes, background directory and then asks me to select it. I copied a jpeg into the directory and selected it and got an error message.

HELP!

Mike

NX70.

I can get all the downloaded backgrounds on it. If I change the size of my jpegs to match the clie screen size will that do it?

Just move the jpeg to /PALM/Programs/ZLauncher/BackImage/ on the stick and then select it using Theme Manager. That's the way I always do it :)

Oh, and you SHOULD modify the jpeg to be the correct size, but you don't have to.

Some implementations of jpgs don't work. Others here have had problems as well with jpgs created in some desktop software. I use MS Photo Editor that comes on the MS Office CD. All the jpgs I've created or converted in it work fine. What program are you using to create the jpgs?

As to size, ZLauncher crops the image for display as a background. There may be a maximum size for a backimage, but I don't know what it is.

Thank you. That was it. I use Image Expert 2000, which came loaded on my Dell. All I had to do was open it and save it in Microsoft Photo Editor and everything was copacetic.

Thanks for the tip. The last piece of the puzzle was to cut it down to size myself so that I got the part of the picture I actually wanted. Great program this zlauncher. ;-)
