View Full Version : How to move files associated with program to MS as well as app in Zlauncher

I was wondering how you can move the files that are associated with a program as well as the program itself to the memory stick. For example: I moved Mobipocket to the MS but the books and news files are still in RAM. Is it possible to move everything to the MS or is that not a feature that Zlauncher supports?
P.S. - As a side question I was wondering if I put Mobipocket on the MS (or other programs that sync data with the PC such as documents to go) will Hotsync recognize them? If it does recognize them will I have to manually move the files from RAM to the MS or is there a way to have Zlauncher move the files automatically based on creator/type/etc.?
Not particular to Mobipocket as I am not familiar with it, but PowerRun can move apps and their associated files to the MS:)

Thanks for the response.
So does this mean that Zlauncher can't do it and I have to get PowerRun as well, or are you offering PowerRun as a workaround?
Does PowerRun play well with Zlauncher? Will Zlauncher recognize apps and files that PowerRun has placed on the MS?

ZL does not have this ability and PowerRun would do what you are asking.
PowerRun and ZL have no conflicts that I have ever heard and ZL will see the icons to those programs put on the MS with PowerRun making them launchable (not lunchable as I am hungry) from ZL:)

Thank you kindly for the info Tixx.
Now not to be greedy... ;) but if you know about my other question (regarding hotsync and MS apps) I would appreciate any info on that as well...
Thanks again

I know that for apps that have a conduit you would need to at least leave their databases in RAM. Such as say, SplashID. You could do this with PowerRun, by selecting move app only. Then they will sync to the desktop. I know nothing about MobiPocket though:)
What device do you have?

Umm...ZLauncher cetainly can move apps and their associated data to the memory stick together. Just use the built-in file manager, sort by file creator, tap any one of the files with the creator ID you want to move, then tap Select Group from the popup menu. At that point, you can select the move icon at the bottom of the file manager and move the lot to the stick. Be careful not to move the associated configuration file as well.
The next question is why would you do this? Reading a bit into your question, it sounds like you want to put the app in the /Palm/Launcher/ directory and the apps data where the app expects to find it. The file manager is again one way to move the data. You can move the app itself in ZL's main display by tap and holding an icon, then tapping Move to card. It is best to move an apps data files using the app itself (assuming it has a function to move data to/from the card) to move its own data. It will put it where it will find it. If you use the file manager, you need to read the docs for each app and put each apps data where it expects to find it on the card.
Tixx' point on syncing is on target. Apps with Hotsync conduits will no longer sync if you move them to the card. There are ways to do it, but I wouldn't mess with them at your experience level.
PowerRun does more than what you ask in your question. PowerRun's real purpose is to move apps and their associated data from the card to RAM to execute, then copy the data back to the card when the app is terminated. Large data files take a while to copy under PowerRun. There are other solutions depending on what you really want to do.
So, ZLauncher will do exactly what you asked originally in any number of ways. I suggest reading the docs to get the most out of ZL--it has a lot of power most never tap. I have several primers on memory cards and their use on my website that you might find helpful. Launchplug.com is another site with good info on the subject.

If you put Mobipocket Reader program on the expansion card, you won't be able to snychronize eNews.
Moreover, it is not possible to send eNews automatically on the card.
