My wife has the SJ30 and loves it. I would like to use the Clie Palm OS 4.1 software on the desktop as a new user, having my own calendar program – but she's wondering what would happen each time she syncs.

Is there a problem with having two users with two separate calendar programs and one clie?

BTW, how do I change my email address listed here?

Thanks in advance,

Don

If you set up a different user account:

Tools Menu --> User dialogue --> New

Then it will be entirely seperate from her calendar / todo etc.

She can hotsync her data, and it won't get "mixed up" with yours.

FYI, my wife and I shared a palm for over a year before I convinced her she needed her own...we used Outlook and Datebk5. Using categories and saved views, We were able to share the same data file, yet only view our own appointments. It was also nice because I could put appointments in her calendar (and vice versa), and she could add tasks to my "honey do" list. Standard Palm calendar doesn't support categories, so this isn't an option.

Hope this helps.

How did you finally convince your wife?  Mine carries this big clunky planner around with her everywhere.  I keep telling her she needs a Palm, but she insists the planner does what she wants... then I see her spend 10 minutes flipping back through pages looking for a phone number or note she wrote - and she forgot where she wrote it.  I even have a spare IIIxe to get her started...  but she's not having any of it.

Did you have to use thumb screws?  Where can I buy some?

Similar situation actually. Can't take much credit though. She had to start taking medication twice a day...asked if I could have a reminder go off on my PDA.

Then she started asking if I could put some reminders for her for upcoming meetings (had to have them go off the night before, so I could remind her).

Then she started experimenting with graffiti, and adding todos to my task list (as every wife LOVES to do ;-)

The final straw was when she discovered bejeweled and bookworm, and she wanted to be able to play them whenever she wanted....

Gave me a good excuse to upgrade!!!!

Now I'm trying to get her interested in my nx (she has my old m515), so I can upgrade again ;-)

Don't know if this can be duplicated, but it worked for me!!!

By the way palmgeek, where in upstate ny. Before getting married and becomming a buckeye I lived there...more specifically, Oneonta area, and later Rochester.

Just curious....

Mike,

I grew up in Rochester (Webster) and married "the little girl who lived across the street".  Been here all my life, except for 6 weeks in Texas, 9 months in Mississippi, and 3 years in California (which accounted for a total of 4 years in the USAF).  I'm living near Canandaigua now, and working at Xerox in Webster.  Thanks for asking.  Where did you live (and when) in Rochester?

...and, you never answered my question about the thumbscrews...: D
