A little treat for you all - FREEWARE skinUI

SkinUI generally works on my LD. But over time I am unable to actually launch the SkinUI app itself. Any ideas? It just resets my LD when I try to launch it, but all the effects are still working.

I want to get in so I can make changes from time to time.

Thanks dmitry, I was trying what you said, but before I deleted it, I tried one more time to get into skinUI. This time I got in! However, when I went to change an app specific setting within skinUI, it did a reset. So I will go ahead and just delete everything and give it another shot.

ok... without skinUI on my LD, the Home button is working the way it is supposed to. Hmmm.... Now my skinUI was crashing every time I entered into the program so I'm thinking there must be a connection. I'm going to reload skinUI and see if it functions without resetting AND if my Home button continues to work. Then I will try loading one skin and a sound pack. Perhaps there is a conflict with the theme I chose?

Dmitry, if you have any insights, please let me know. I was using the Cobalt-Blue skin and I believe Vista sound pack.

Dmitry, I finally found the problem. My own fault, yet again. One day I must have gotten crazy and tweaked the CPU for skinUI a bit too high. SkinUI was running fine at 520MHz for normal operations, but just trying to enter the application would cause the crash. I tweaked it down with WarpSpeed to the standard system default of 416MHz.

Just a quick followup on this - I did end up finding several corruptions on my card (likely a full sector or group, since it seemed to be any recently created file), including the skin in the SkinUI folder, so that increases my suspection of that being a possible "cause" for why it may have happened (although it still doesn't quite x-plain why it would still crash after a hard reset even without the card in, nor why it would cause the same crash on another device with a different card).

Still - and still without n e explanation at all on my part - the battery calibration, or also launching bootloader mode (which I actually used to fix the 700p when it happened) have not failed at fixing it when the crash happened... no matter how inexplicable a "fix" it may be.

I downloaded the OSX skin from the thread-Vista Skin for skinUI 2.0.1.1, and it worked. It looked like the file was OSX_Apple, instead of OSX-Apple, which is what I got from palmpowerups.com. No matter, it worked- I colorized it, like the blue better, loving the animation-thanks for the awesome app Dmitry!


how did you get that skin?? i get the file "OSX-Apple" when I download from palmpowerups.com!! what is going on?? lol. maybe you can send me your file? is that allowed? :confused: i would really like to use this skin.

I've got an ATT Centro that behaves like the others who've posted about resets right after the "Loading Skin UI" message. Even after a hard reset, version 2.3.0.0 simply won't make it past the boot up phase. Although I did see the tutorial once. ;)
As a workaround, I found and tried a copy of version 2.1.0.0, and it works like a charm. Trouble is that's not a free version. I even tried reinstalling v 2.3.0.0 back again and still no dice...
Can I get a reg code for 2.1.0.0? My user code is s3-Z1HTo234? I'd really like to continue using the app - even version 2.1.0.0 rocks. Thanks.

I'm having an issue where the 'yellow alert bell' or whatever it is called cannot be seen while the skin is in place. If I disable the "Title Bars" effect I can then see when that yellow bell is blinking. I enjoy having that notification yellow bell constantly there to remind me I still have alerts to attend to.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?
