Hi guys,
This is what I am hearing, but can you really use the program to watch youtube "online"? Or is it offline only? And is the playback quality passable (considering it's LD, I will be happy even at lowest quality)?
I was going to install the trusty TCPMP player, but I heard that it can't play many new files now, so... And w/ Coreplayer, you get youtube :D

find someone who's bought coreplayer
its gpl-based to have them request source
recompile
??
profit :-) or in this case, enjoy

Wait, CorePlayer is under GPL...not really, right?
And TCPMP is still great, even though there are newer players.

Well off to purchase! I found out that you can only watch youtube thru streaming, you can't play the flv files (the programmer supposedly can make the player playback flv as well, but don't bc of abode). No biggie, you get $5 off right now till 30th, so I may as well do it :)
When not using my desktop, I usually use Sony UX280 UMPC for wifi. But the funny thing is in my room the wifi signal is pretty weak, & I found out that the LD has better range :p My PSP works great ;) except that wifi doesn't work, so I guess LD it is for some light internet & youtube!

After you purchase it, email them asking if it is GPL'ed ;)

Well, AFAIK (which is very little), it was based on gpl (TCMP), but I think it's "closed". For ex, on a youtube I viewed, last month, the coder said he will release the source code for some OS (not palm, as I can recall), so we can make plug ins & such. I don't think he released it for LD.
Well, youtube worked fine the 1st time :), then it's really slow. I guess I will play w/ it later.

you cannot close GPL code
GPL once -> GPL for life of code...
read the GPL for details

I think only the TCPMP code is gpl'ed, and that is available in TCPMP?

they used same code in core
unless everyone who contributed to tcpmp agreed to this license change, the code is still gpl
Yeah, but you can use gpl code and write your own stuff on top of it, and whatever you have writen, can be closed. Or am I wrong?

you are wrong
GPL GNU Public Licence - A licence applied to a program to specify it can be distributed and modified to/by anyone, but if a modified version is distributed, the source must be distributed too.
