I've been debating whether to go with a blackberry, iphone or a treo for a while now. Right now I have a non-bluetooth phone and my TG50. I love my TG50 and find that none of the aforementioned devices allow me to keep all the functionality that I have with my current setup although they do offer me some functionality that I desperately need - for instance - I really need a pda that will dial at a touch. I'm thinking that one way I can keep using my Clie is to upgrade to a bluetooth phone that can interact with my TG50. Is that still possible or is the TG version of Bluetooth outdated for today's new phones?

The problem is finding the correct phone drivers to install on your TG-50. You may have luck locating a SE 616 on E-bay.

You can install MoHiSpeed it comes with update bluetooth drivers. I use it with my TH55 & my motorola k1 phone.
You don't need to register MoHiSpeed unless you want to your phone as a modem to access the internet ($$$)... I just installed it to gain access to the phone drivers.
Hope this help.
BTW, I agree with you 100%. I looked at the newer devices and didn't like what I saw. I'd have to loose some functions to upgrade to a new device. So I decided to keep the PDA and pair it up with a bluetooth phone.

I did a Google search for MoHiSpeed but nothing came up, does it still exist?

Drivers for your Bluetooth phone aren't absolutely necessary on PalmOS. It depends on what you want to do with the phone and your TG50.
I used to use my UX40 in conjunction with a Samsung phone. The main thing I used the phone for was a Bluetooth modem. However, I was also able to setup the UX40 to automatically dial my contacts on the phone. This was all without purchasing or installing any additional software.
The latter sounds like what you wanted to do. However, I will say that in practice, I never used this. Usually, when I want to make a phone call, it's quite cumbersome to pull out your PDA and your phone, and then fumble with the PDA to locate the contact in the address book and dial (moreover, it's not a one-touch dial like you originally asked for).
I'd almost rather just replicate my PalmOS contacts on my phone (in fact, I only used the phone's address book for dialing directly). You might be able to sync your TG50 and phone to the same service, resulting in a mirrored address book.
For SMS, the built-in application does not work with phones unless drivers are supplied... I think there are some third-party applications, which might allow for this.
How much are you looking to spend on a new Bluetooth-enabled phone?
I'm wondering if it might be simpler for you to purchase a slightly older smartphone, whether it be PalmOS or a different platform. It might be the same price as a new Bluetooth-enabled phone depending on what phone you were originally considering.

Well, I'm not very impressed with the Treos out there and I like the idea of having a separate phone and PDA. What would make me happy would be to have a bluetooth phone that can connect with my Clie and I could dial from the clie as well as surf the internet. I will be looking up the numbers on my clie anyway so it would be easier to dial that way. I don't really care how old the bluetooth phone as long as it allows me web access and phone dialing on my clie - so the cheaper the better just in case I can't get it to work.
