I'm having trouble installing the HP48 calculator emulator on my NR70V. I can load the .prc file fine, but I don't know how to load the two .bin files. The manual says where to put the files, but doesn't say how. When I try MS Import method, it says these type of files are not for Palm OS.

The method is described under INSTALATION in the following manual - but it just doesn't say HOW:

http://www.mindspring.com/~hildinge...48%20Manual.htm

Please advise.

Thank you!!

those files stay on the card, in a designated folder, i don't remember the exact directory, but check if it was already created by default, then just move the files there.

I'm using Power48 (both SX and GX) without difficulty, you will need to unzip the files in the zip file so that the directory structure remains intact. If not, you will need to copy each of the files to the specific locations ...

1) Make a Power48 directory in your PALM/PROGRAMS/ directory.
2a) Either copy the contents of the Power48 directory on your HD (after you unzipped) into the MS Power48 directory OR
2b) Manually copy the HP48GXRomfile.bin (and HP48SXRomfile.bin) into the MS Power48 directory
3) Confirm there is a PALM/PROGRAMS/Power48/Objects/ folder ... if not, create it (leave it empty).

Hope this helps you out!

Now if only someone could make a TI 86 or 89 emulator...

I'm afraid I need a little remedial help.

I don't know how to create the necessary directory or how to transfer the files. I tried to transfer the files using MS import - but I got an error message that said .bin files were not allowed to be transfered.

Thanks for your help!!

Thanks for the advice. I discovered the solution through a tele call to sony support. When running the MS Import program, I was trying to accomplish the directory set up using the silly diolog box provided wit MS Import. The solution required use of WINDOWS EXPLORER after establishing the connection with MS Import - and not using the interface provided by MS Import.

Thanks Again.

I think that this is one of the BEST pieces of software out there for the NR70V.

It is amazing to me how well the developers executed this emulator. I've been using an hp calculator for years and having an almost perfect emulator for my PDA is great.

I just received the alpha version of Power48 for OS5.0 (nx60) from the developer, and so far it is working great.
It is just beautiful.

In his own words:
"I let those who donate to the project have early access to prerelease alpha code.
Thanks!

aka clieuser: slinger

Try it out, it is worth it,

I have no OS5 device, but how is the speed on startup and shutdown. Is there any delay? My 665C delays about 4 seconds before I can start calculating (i.e. I'm getting the "starting up" window).

How much delay (if any) on your NX60?

Hi

There is a delay of almost 2.5 seconds on startup. You can select an option for a "verbose startup mode" during which it slows down (around 17 sec) and tells you what it is doing to start up - I am not a developer, so I could not relaly give you too much detail about that.
