Your choices may be limited by the carrier you use.

There is no WiFi available on PalmOS Treos or the Centro.

I'm also looking to get a treo. I think that GSM and PalmOS are the right combination for me. (Here in Bristish Columbia) that means getting a connection through Rogers. I'd be interested in hearing from other TX users who switched to the treo. I use my TX for contacts and calendar (Agendus Pro) mostly but I've found that running around on construction sites with a PDA and cheap cell phone a little tricky and restrictive. I was hoping that a treo would basically put a cell phone in my PDA, or at least get a PDA in my cell phone.

I use WiFi a fair bit with my TX but can't see myself paying for much of a data plan because they are ridiculously expensive here - sucks.

I went from a TH-55 & a Nokia E70, to a Treo 680 (with an extra battery). Both the TH & the E70 had WiFi. But I could never get the E70 to work. Like others here, I'm not going to pay for a data plan. But I have a laptop w/WiFi, so it hasn't been a big loss to go to a 680 w/o WiFi. I don't know how good the battery life on a TX is. But my TH-55 had incredible life. And like the comments made about the 680, it's battery life is a big step down. But my TH lacked NVFM. so I just bought a spare battery and a charger for it. I'm getting through a full day 95% of the time. But there's no way it'd last even half way thru a second day w/o charging. In contrast, both my TH-55 & e70 could go 3 days no problem. I also got a Boxwave AA charger for when I go camping this Summer.

True data plans aren't cheap and I won't use my mobile (which is with O2 in the UK) for internet access thats why I like the wi-fi.

Whats the main differnece between the 680 and the centro as when you compare them they have all the same features, but a big difference in price?

Oh and the TH55 Rocked!!, in many ways regret going to the TX.

I have several apps on my TX; 4Cast, Blazer, Agendus, pTunes, Quickpedia and GoogleMaps to name them, which although I can't say I use with the net all the time (except maybe 4Cast - use that daily) I would certainly miss the functionality w/o an internet connection. (What is wrong with Palm, why not sell their unlocked treos with WiFi?) The lack of WiFi on the treos has been my sticking point now for 18 months.

Still, the way it looks now, I'll solve one problem with a treo but create another, still requiring me to have two devices. Maybe I can get the two (TX and treo) to talk to each other and use the net that way on the Treo?

Question, can the Treo connect to a Vista box via bluetooth and access the net? That might be a good work around. That would certainly sort out 4Cast.

Ok, I've decided I can live without wi-fi (I'm sync emails from Outlook) and as I'm with O2 I can get bolt ons - Unlimited web browsing for £7.50 a month if I really need it so, Centro or 680?

I'm edging to Centro as its cheaper and looks a bit more stylish

Any Vista issues I should be aware of?

I can surf on my 650 using the BT dongle on my XP home PC. Hope this helps.

I have Tx and TH-55. the Tx is awful in interpreting graffiti: the processor is just too slow or something. (I use the original graffiti & much prefer it) I also find the -55 battery life ~2x better, and it's a big plus to use it outdoors sometimes, when the reflective screen is better. I use the camera a little, and the voice recorder a lot, and like the Sony apps, too: especially the backup app. Also, the memory card can get bumped and pop out, not so on the sony. So, basically lots of reasons I'm disappointed in my Tx. One good thing about Tx: Versamail. I couldn't get that to run on the TH-55

Nice that you had chosen the Centro, I'm still sticking with my Treo 680 and I bought one for my cousin as a gift. The size of the keyboard and the screen is still the utmost importance for me than form factor.
