Recently replaced the battery in my TX - result one dead Palm. Sent it to Proporta for repair to be informed the processor has failed and it needs a new motherboard. Therefore just ordered a new TX. Neither me or Proporta know what could can happened as replacing the battery is a straight forward process - or is it!?

Therefore to those wishing to replace their own battery - be careful, tread with care!

It sounds like you had a rare occurrence situation or some kind of coincidental faliure. There is nothing inherently dangerous about replacing the battery unless the battery wires accidentally touch something other than the two solder pads they go to.

In fact, removing and then reconnecting a battery wire is often a way to solve certain types of repeating loops or freezes on the TX.
