View Full Version : How to remove original apps, etc. - Basic info

I'm not a programmer, but am fairly computer literate. I've read some of the ROM customization thread and the junk removing thread, but have some basic questions. I would like to be able to remove some of the unused original apps that came with my T/X, and possibly other things like language files, etc. to free up space. But don't want to take too many "risks".
1) Assuming my T/X is fairly recent, and doesn't have the flash rom, what is it possible to remove safely, and how to do it the best way?
2) Does this have to be done when you first get the T/X or can it be done after you've installed a bunch of additional stuff?
3) When you do a Hotsync, are any of the files re-installed, or are they permanently removed?
4) Is there a list anywhere of files that can be removed safely?

Hack up your own T|X2 overflow databases. I dont think there is any docs on it, so we'd have to ask Dmitry how to create our own... let's see
just use dmitry's TX2 overflow rom, from his site: www.palmpowerups.com
then get the freeware app on 1src that deleats the rest of the stuff (i forgot what it is called so somone fill that in  )

The OP wants most of the stuff out of his overflow, cms, not more added to it :)
if im correct, dmitry got rid of addit, all of the sample docs, the video, changed the 3 pictures to 3 that are smaller in size, and also got rid of the welcome app
then he added netfront, filez, voice recorder, and some other things, but i find is much more practical than the original crap :D

I guess you mean:
TX Junk Remover (www.1src.com/freeware/fileinfo.php?id=1775)
Versamail Remover (www.1src.com/freeware/fileinfo.php?id=1798)
They are both a quick and easy way to get rid of some junk.
As always, first do an NVBackup (sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=92189&package_id=186018) (or whatever backup app you use) :)
All the best, woz of oz
yep thats the app thanks wozofoz

Would these two apps work equally well on an LD to remove the junk?
