LauncherX and ZLauncher Memory Management

Anyone have an explanation for a peculiar memory issue on NX70?

NX70 installed with JackFlash, ZLauncher 3.12, LauncherX, Avantgo Clie Beta., among other applications. Avantgo installed to memstick per Avantgo option.

When using Zlauncher, ram available goes as low as 1 mb. Then if I load LauncherX, open AvantGo, then close AvantGo, my available ram goes as high as 3 mb the next time I open Zlauncher. If AvantGo is opened in ZLauncher and then AvantGo closed, Zlauncher shows 1 mb ram again.

Thanks for any assistance, since I prefer to use ZLauncher and would like to maximize ram. Currently I am using LauncherX to reclaim the ram.

Not something I've ever noticed. What files are getting bigger. Do you know? That should explain what is going on.

Am I missing something? How do you get avantgo on memstick?

Sounds like an Avantgo problem, if it is a problem. ZL doesn't manage memory for apps executed under it, the app does that through the Palm OS. At termination, the app should release all its memory handles to the OS. That's not the launcher's responsibility, and couldn't be if you think about the implications of that. The new Avantgo version has had a host of problems, but I don't know if this in particular is a known issue.

Thank you Tanker Bob for your reply. Avantgo Beta is functioning well for me as long as there is enough free RAM on load from the memstick. I will continue to use ZLauncher as my primary launcher with use of LauncherX to "restore" the ram, or do whatever it is doing that results in an increase in ram after ZLauncher.

For the question about "How to use Avantgo from memstick": This is selected by opening AvantGo on the handheld, selcting the Menu> Options> Server Preferences> Settings> then check off the box next to "Use Card: T16"

Another thought about AvantGo and Memory use. With LauncherX I have moved the main AvantGo prc to the memstick and created a shortcut to it. This setup functions just fine. Perhaps ZLauncher is copying the main app to RAM on launch and not erasing it from RAM on exit. Then LauncherX frees up the RAM on activation of LauncherX?

ZLauncher will recognize LauncherX-created shortcuts, but I don't know how it handles them. You could check in the file manager to see if the Avantgo app file or even the data is still in RAM after termination.

YES, I did the same "Moving to card" with LauncherX- It rocks!
Wonderful PRG that LauncherX (you can forget other PRG's like Power Run or so)
