View Full Version : Zlauncher and Battery Drain

It might be just me, but since installing Z-Launcher, it would appear that my battery life has been reduced. Is it possible that a piece of software could reduce the life of the battery (maybe more CPU intensive than other launchers?) or is it just me?
I'd like to know if others have noticed this.

It's not something I've noticed.
Do you have the brightness turned up higher than normal to show off the background?

I think it's just you. ;) Seriously, though, I haven't noticed a shorter battery life with ZLauncher.

It's probably because your PDA is so beautiful now that you've installed ZL, you keep turning it on to look at it. hence shorter battery life :)

If you have Menu/ZL Preferences, Auto sync /Palm/Launcher/ selected, it will read the memory stick every time ZL loads. That will eat up the battery faster. In general, if you find yourself displaying the Card tab frequently, that will also eat power faster. It's possible that some functions may keep the CPU running longer at a higher speed depending on how it interacts with the OS. Other than that, ZL shouldn't affect your battery life.

While your statement is true, how big a difference is it really going to make in battery life ? Of course if one would sit there and do nothing all day, but constantly switch applications, then yes it could be significant.
In normal operations, maybe the battery life over a few hours might be decreased by a few seconds at best. If extensive use is made of the file maanger, then yes it would use more battery power, but that would hold true for any file manager :).
