Hi, I'm new to this forums. First of al, sorry for my crappy English :p

A time ago I formatted the Internal Media in CardExport2, and now I finally managed to get it back using Data Export and a very old PC with usb 1 (my newer Pcs with USB2 won't work for strange reasons). I installed all factory applications and put them into AliasExt. When I put CLIE demo in the AliasExt and soft-resetted the whole thing it won't startup anymore. It just hangs. I find out when you softreset it while holding PgUp it will boot into such a recovery mode. Apparently there's no silk and launcher. It will start only the preferences. Things I've done to get it back to boot without hanging (is that correct English?):

Boot into recovery prefs mode
Open up button settings
Set one of the hardbuttons like Internet, E-mail or Calendar to CLIE Files
Pushed internet button and CLIE Files started!
Remove the whole AliasExt directory
Soft reset

So now my CLIE boots just fine like before. Does anybody know what this "recovery mode" is about? I'm also wondering where to put the INDEX.SWF from CLIE Demo.

recovery mode (soft reset) is use for booting in "safe mode" enviroment so you can try and rescue it if it won't boot normally. in the pref. screen just press "ctrl+h" to get to the home screen. the status bar and graffiti won't wotk untill you reset the device.
if you will hard reset the device (reset + pwr button up) it should put everything back to the internal mem.
my advice: backup, hard reset, restore.
good luck.

Thanks for your information! Yes I noticed when I did a hard reset the Internal Media will remain. I didn't know I could back to the clie launcher using CTRL+H
