*If possible, install Palm Desktop from your device's software installation CD first. This download is compatible with the devices above, but additional conduits and applications are included only on the CD version. If you are simply re-installing and have already used the software CD for your device, please proceed.

The above is from http://www.palm.com/us/support/macintosh/macdesk421revd.html#sysreq

I am a little puzzled as I cannot find "Palm Desktop" on my CD

I originally did as I was asked in the "Tx_Read This First.pdf": "Double-click the CD icon, and then double-click PalmSoftware.pkg."

Does this mean that I already have the desktop, and if so, how/where can I find it please?

Pardon my ignorance and TI :shortcut:

My Palm TX installation CD has an app called "PalmSoftware.pkg" which contains Palm Desktop. I use a Mac.

Type Cmd-F to find whatever you want on your Mac. Use Spotlight if you have Tiger.

Thanks for getting back to me on this, Gregte.

As you can see in my original post, I did double-click "PalmSoftware.pkg", and when I do a search (Cmd-F) for "palm" or "desktop" or "palmdesktop", all I get is "com.palm.PalmDesktopSetup.plist" (in preferences). How exactly is the desktop named? I have a feeling that it may not have been installed

On my Mac OS 10.4.10 and my other Mac OS 10.3.9 it is named "Palm Desktop".

Since you have the .plist file that suggests that it (Palm Desktop) had to have been installed at one time. Command-F found the plist file so it should have found the Palm Desktop application, which incidentally would have been automatically installed in the Applications folder if you are using OS 10.3 or 10.4 and probably any other OS X version.

What happens if you insert the CD now and double click the PalmSoftware.pkg or do you mean that you have tried doing this again since the initial attempt?

At any rate, you can't go wrong to insert the CD and install again.
