I have been using JackFlash for some time now and there's around 1000K left in my NX's flash. I was wondering what the minimum amount of flash is , to keep the device running smoothly,
Thanks for your reply

Some have said not to pack it in, but I always have on my other devices, often with under 10K available, and I never had any problems. I also had my NX like this when JF for the NX first came out, without any problems, though now I have around 60K available just due to the way the file sizes worked out.

I've ran it as low as 3K free with no problems. What kind of problems have people had in the past running it real low?

I also keep around 100k, but I don't know why. BTW, where is it going to go? I don't know if JackFlash needs any space to compact or not. I ran into a problem today when I tried to stuff ZL's latest beta in there. I had to make about 1mb free, then JackFlash did it's compacting thing. After that I could put everything back into Flash. Before that, my Clie kept locking up when I hit update and it said beginning. I'd take stuff out and it wouldn't go back in, until it compacted, phew :)!

I usually keep 2k in there, but currently I have 664K in there. I am waiting for the final release of the new Datebk5 version before I put it back in.

for us OS5 users, how does Flash Enable work?

It doesn't seem to do anything, when I click on it, it just says "Expansion Flash is now enabled" and then soft resets my palm.

The flash enable program simply allows you to actually use the flash if you don't want to keep JackFlash installed in RAM, or if you want to keep it on a memory card in case you have to do a hard reset. That way you can just transfer the flash enable program over from the card and be able to use the programs stored in flash again.

Without one of these two programs resident in ram, the programs in flash are inaccessible.

So what you're saying Trallis is that I can move JF to my MS as long as I keep the flash enable file in RAM? what happens when a hard reset occurs? Has anyone tried re-installing all from MS and flash after a Hard reset?
Thanks

After a hard reset, flash enable has to be run! Yes, you can put JF into ROM, but you still need Flash Enable in RAM and on the MS.
