View Full Version : Can we get a Classifieds forum?

I think this has been addressed before, but I could not seem to find it in a search.
Most forums that do have a classifieds section make a forum specifically dedicated for the purpose of buying, selling, and trading.
This would be a good place for members to discuss deals (let's admit it there are a bunch of items in the classifieds that clearly are a rip off) Also the forum could be a place to answer questions so that everyone can read the replies, as well as give feedback for a deal.
Good idea no?

In addition to this, you mean? I'm a little unclear on what you're recommending.

I think the current Classifieds section could use a forum.
I hate to link to another forum site, but something like this:
http://discussion.brighthand.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=213
Where the community can see ads posted and where the seller can respond to everyone, instead of individually to each person.

It's one or the other. The disadvantage though is if we go forums, there won't be a classifieds forum anymore in the main page. It will just be part of the forums, appearing on the main page if there are only new posts or replies.

Maybe this will be a good idea for a front page poll, to see which method people prefer, possible with "Don't care" as a 3rd option. I generally prefer the forum method better, but I would hate to see a bunch of people writing Bump a thousand times in their own threads just to make sure people saw it. So if we went to the forum method, I would prefer to not see it displayed at all on the front page.

Would it be possible to handle the classified forum like the off-topic forum, where it doesn't appear on the front page, but those shopping can still access it. Leave the ads at the bottom of the first page like they are, with a click on the ad taking you the classified forum as well as having the classified forum listed with the other forums.

I like that idea, if it's possible.

that would be really cool sebring.
rldunn, yeah I would also hate to have people constantly bumping. Although for a clieforum selling palm related stuff, I don't think we'll get too many miscellaneous ads.

What they do at another forum that I visit is that they limit the amount of bumps you can make for a item you are selling and if you bump it too many times after you are warned the thread is deleted by the staff.
