Is there a good clipboard extender (increases the size of the clipboard) for OS 4 devices? I'm looking for something that will work on my AlphaSmart Dana.
TIA!

I think there is a Clip Extend hack I posted in the 1src freeware, and it should work on both OS 4 and OS 5.

I was using MultiClipHack. Although the site of the developer is dead now, you can still find it here (http://www.pdaload.ru/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownloaddetails&lid=777&ttitle=MultiClipHack&pid=palm).
Hope this helps :)

Worked like a charm. Thanks, Pruss!

Could u point me to the link pls...
Alex... how much work would it take to convert all your old hacks to prefpanels? I tend to avoid YAHM now, but could always do with more prefs I can turn on/off :)

Hi Em! :) I didn't want a hack manager on my TX, but followed Alex advice. So I installed it and also his ClipExtend hack. No problems at all.
Yahm has an option where it will ask you if you want to enable the hacks or not after a soft reset (if you are tracking a problem, you tap "No" and no hacks will be enabled).
It's also has a cool feature that it will auto enable hacks after some seconds, so you can forget of having to manually enable them. :)

I'd sure like to see it change also. Though it works fine with YAHM, this combo introduces an extra piece of software (YAHM) that I'd rather avoid - unless I had multiple hacks, but I only have one.

If I remember correctly this was asked of Alex before and his answer was something like this:
Many times when Alex creates a PrefsPanel etc or changes a Hack to a Standalone he simply puts the necessary YAHM code in the app.
This means an increase in size and in essence you are still using YAHM in a way.
Also I get the impression Alex really likes YAHM and much more of his stuff would be YAHM run Hacks if he thought they would be accepted by the masses. This would mean less kb and less Coding work for Alex :)
Since many users have a dislike/fear of using Hacks, Alex only turns them into PrefsPanels etc to satisfy these users.
To sum up:
Alex arranges your vegies into a pretty face so you will be happy eating them but they are still vegies (and good for you) :D
I actually lean the other way, I lke YAHM and so if Alex brought out a YAHM Hack version of his stuff I would move over to those so that it was all organised in one place and as mentioned above I could choose to not install the Hacks if I ran into problems.
That's just my personal preference though :)

That's right. You've got the base YAHM code built into some of my utilities, in large part because users find YAHM scary or hard to use. FontSmoother and FastLaunch are like that.
I really want to emphasize that YAHM is a superb piece of work--it is an extremely stable hack manager for OS 5, and unless someone is a really, really knowledgeable developer like Dmitry, it is better to do things via YAHM (or at least YAHMLib) than to reinvent the wheel.

Then I guess we're set - YAHM doesn't scare me!
Hmm.. why not make FontSmoother a Hack? ;) Just bustin' yer chops. Thanks Alex.

I am all for this as well.
I currently use 3 of his ( Mr. Pruss ) hacks, the afore mentioned Clipextend plus Graffiti state indicator and 5wayem

It was a hack. :-) But it was bad for marketing, and I don't want to maintain two versions.
Heh... if I change FS's type and enable it with YAHM, will that work? ;)

No, the control panel will not work, and there may be some stuff hardcoded to the app type.

I tried ClipExtendHack from Alex's old website (http://gs23.inmotionhosting.com/~alexan13/dl/) with two versions of YAHM -- v2.3.6 and v2.5.113 but it doesn't help break the 1000 character limit. I tried copying large memos and keep getting the character limit message.
Am I missing something here?

If you have launched YAHM and Enabled ClipExtendHack then I can only suggest that what you are trying to copy is just too big.
At times, I have been unable to copy the text off some webpages but there was simply too much even for ClipExtendHack to handle.
I don't remember seeing the message though, it just didn't work.

Which app is the problem in?

The native memo app.

It seems that you can just turn Yahm on when you need it, it does not have to be active on start up, it doesn't even have to be there, I just copied it from my card and it worked. (with clipextendhack)
