View Full Version : IF the new Clie is true, I will abandon my NZ90 for it.

IF, and that's a big IF the rumors of the new 320x480 T factor Clie are true, then I am ready to utilize my maintenance warranty to down-grade to it from my NZ90.

While I love the idea of the 2mp camera inside the PDA I have never been satisfied with the battery performance and the "uncertainity" of not knowing if my flash would have enough juice to fire. My battery life has been too inconsistent for me.

And if I can't use the camera consistently, the all the extra bulk and weight become an inconvenience that I would rather do without.

I am considering utilizing my maintenance plan this week to get a NEW NZ90 and seeing if it is dramatically better in regards to camera battery life. If so, I might hang onto it, if not - I will jump ship to the new T series clie in a heartbeat.

Did you download/install the camera patch? Granted it doesn't perform as well as a stand alone camera, but for shots on the fly it works pretty darn well. I could care less about the rumoured T-type, but am interested in what the specs are on the rumoured NX replacement. Built in wifi would be sweet! If I really like that one, I might make my little company buy it for my "personal" pda and shift the NZ to "professional" status... We'll see.... Tired of waiting and wading thru rumours though. Wish they'd just "leak" the specs a little more authoratatively. Unregistered posters with conflicting specs just make a mess...
Anyway, we're about due for a new model from Sony to dish about. I haven't seen a good fat jokes thread or the always funny brick comments in a while...:D

And I'd be willing to actually and finally move on from my NR.

Yes, I installed the camera patch but didn't notice ANY difference. I think I have either a defective Clie or a bad battery. I have a maintenance plan but it costs approx $100 so to swap for the new NZ90 and buy the warranty again means blowing $100.

Thanks for the reply though.

If true, I am going to give up my T665 for this new one. This is what I had hoped. By the way, I asked a manager about the new Clie's and he definitely knew that something was coming this week... he just didn't know what (or at least he wouldn't say... LOL).

Who did you get this plan from? Whats the point of the warranty if you need to pay $100?

Its the standard CompUSA TAP warranty. The cost is based on the price of the device so I paid around $85 (plus tax). You get a 2 year, one time replacement warranty. That means you can take the unit in and swap it (or pay the difference for a newer one) if you have problems. Since my battery is clearly defective, I can swap it in.

If you want to get a new warranty to cover the new unit, you gotta buy it again. That's the hook.

Its worth it if you use your PDA an awful lot and want to be able to swap it up later on. I originally bought it with my t615, swapped up to the Nx70, and then swapped up to the nz90.

Then I don't understand why everyone likes that better then Best Buy's? I have a 4 year plan that cost $79.00. I went from the NR to the NX and if I have a problem with that, to the newer model for free...and the plan transfers over to the new device free.
