ST, I sent my TX to Chris Short, in Minnesota, he put in the my new glass digi for about $79, his chops & reputation are stellar around the 'net, turn around time great, & personally, he has a great attitude.

If you wanna do it yourself.... sorry, can't help.

His email is: ips AT chartermi DOT net

BTW, the digitizer, based on my old T3 is plastic, a page thick sheet of plastic that you could use for a bookmark, the digi lies on top of the screen, my glass digi has served me superbly since I got it a few months ago...

Thanks Tech, the actual surgery sounds really easy, finding the donor parts, as always is proving difficult. The only place I found via a "Google" is out of stock, I added myself to their "watch" list two weeks ago and haven't heard anything since. Apparantly they are becoming rare!

The rest of my internet searches have been fruitless, and I'm at wits end. I have found several sites that offer to sell a plastic digi, but if I wanted to go through all of this again, I would just send it back to Palm... Palm will only replace it with a refurbished or new plastic digi; glass seems to be the FINAL solution...

Thanks again, I'll keep your guy in mind. The one thing that drives me nuts, is that with my digi failing, I can no longer use ThumbboardDA!!! I didn't realize how much I used it!

This entire post has been done via graffiti, so congratulate me on my patience!!

I'm going through a digitizer horror story where I ordered 4 TX digitizers (for myself and for three friends) from PdaParts and they came with defects - a strange stain in the middle, that would move a bit when scratched, then disappear if scratched harder, then reappear with normal use. This stain renders the whole digitizer unusable.

After installing two of them, I contacted PdaParts and they told me to send them back. After a while they also said they would couldn't get proper digitizers, so they would refund.

Chris Short has confirmed he also saw the same problem so now it seems we're all waiting for the only factory that makes Palm TX digitizers to get a grip on their product quality. Unless somebody knows another source for these items.

ST, if you have such patience, you should try programming. I hear it can get a bit complex.... ;-)

Pgr. (Set Twilight Zone Music = ON) Do not to open your Palm PDA, do not try to fix it, we, the parts suppliers are in control of your device..... do doo doo do....

Give Chris an email, after a while, a bad digi can cause you to lose your hair...
