View Full Version : A strange problem

Could this be an indication of something serious? There are times, when using my UX-50, the battery will drain (at the moment, entirely too fast... stoopid battery) and I will bring up the Battery Information dialog to check the remaining charge. What's strange about all this is the "Remain" percentage will actually go up... all the way to 100% if I let it. I knew, once it started this, that I couldn't ever trust the battery again, but could it be indicative of something else going wrong/bad? I'd hate to buy a battery and discover there's a fried spot on the motherboard that makes any repair pointless.

Help!

Don't panic - the fluctuating battery charge is quite normal and even happens with a brand new battery. To see the effect at its most obvious, turn on WiFi and surf for a few minutes - the battery level will drop really quickly. Then disconnect the WiFi connection and the battery indicator will shoot back up!

Oh.... kay....... so, "don't take the battery indicator thingy as absolute gospel" is the basic thing, here? I can deal with that, it just seems kinda weird. Good to know it's not just me, though.

Thanks. ^_^

Just out of curiosity, is there a good tool that will give an accurate measure of the battery level? I'm talking something that's always accessible from the UX50 itself. I'm not going to carry a multimeter around with me.

The Sony support battery test application can be obtained from here (http://www.filehosting.cc/?d=9E261C122) and you can find another download link and instructions for using it here (http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104100).
