So I have been searching all over for a fix and can not find anything. One other person I found had the same issue on a review of the LD, but they just said to hold the cable at an angle.

The problem.... LD will not charge unless the power plug is pressed down. If I just plug it in the LED light wont come on if the unit is on, only if it is off. But it will never fully charge. Only when I put slight pressure on the power cord(downward) will the LED come on and if I hold it down long enough I get full charge and the green LED comes on.

I am wondering if there is a fix. I really dont think it is a battery problem(it hold charge fine), or a cable problem(I have bought a new one). It has to be the conector port(right?) I am really tired of holding the cable at an angel till it is 100% charge. PAIN!!!!

No more warrenty, had no problem with my LD before this, have had LD for 2 years.

Many thanks, for any help

yep sounds like a port problem...start looking into getting a new one...port that is...check ebay...ive bought broken lds for 50-75 $ then you have spare parts...

It's more likely that the contacts have become dirty and corroded. Some alcohol or better, Corrosion-X, applied with a q-tip suitably reduced in size, or something similar, might help.

well, I have done the whole alcohol thing a while ago. It didnt do anything. I might try to find the Corrosion-X. But then probably end up swapping out the port anyways, I have a feeling. Is that hard to swap? Do you know if it is unplug replug, or if soldering is involved or whatever. Thanks so much

Here are some disassembly photos from Palm:

Scroll through to page 16, that's the part you need to replace on yours, taken from another LD. It doesn't look off the shelf. :(
