View Full Version : Maybe some advice?

Hi, I am currently an NZ90 user, but have been discovering some of the following and would like some input on them(I know it's a long one, but please read through and post replies):

1. I do not use the camera on a daily basis. I might even go up to 1 month without using the camera function, except for maybe a 'pity' shot here and there. I also feel that the video capture is useless for getting anything 'great', but good for something like a family reunion or something. Anytime I am going to need a camera, I usually bring my Cybershot, which takes better shots and has better settings and I would feel better letting other people use without supervision. lol

2. The size, for me, makes taking my Clie with me EVERYWHERE somewhat of a burden. Sometimes I feel that bringing it into a store or to a meeting might be more trouble than it's worth, then I end up needing it for something. I like putting it in my pants pocket, but this unit, for my tastes, is too big for my pockets, comfortably. I just feel that in having a Personal Assistant, I would be taking it and using it almost everywhere. I guess I am just more sensitive to the actual bulkiness of this unit, compared to other CLIEs I have used.

3. I feel a lot more conscious about it when I am out and about, being that it costs $800.00 and I don't wanna drop it, bump it or worse, break it.

This past weekend, while out-of-town, I used a TG50 and noticed that it's a lot easier to carry, due to it being smaller and more compact. Quickly jotting a note was also easy, since there was no having to open, flip and turn into tablet mode. I just yank it out and jot the note down. Also, while it was fully charged before the trip, I forgot my charger and didn't dip below 80% the whole time and used it pretty extensively, testing video clips and photo albums, comapring to see if I would 'really' miss the larger screen. Turned out, I COULD live without the larger screen for the most part. The only part I would miss is the WiFi not being available, since I don't own a Bluetooth phone and I don't know how long until Nextel releases one with BT.

So my conundrum here is, although I love owning the NZ and having the top-of-the-line, should I keep this NZ and live with the slight shorcomings, or should I sell my NZ and become a TG50 user?

What would you do?

Anyone also having similar thoughts?

Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your patience in reading this post and replying!

have you tried the T/C, if so, you'd probably fall in love with it.

Base line is, if you feel like you are not using it, then sell it. No point in keeping somthing which you won't use.

I just want to say that I'm kinda in the same dilemma but for me, I don't own either one yet (still using my trusty ol' Palm V).

But I've been going through the same kind of decisions in my head to decide which one to buy, the NZ90 or TG50.

I've looked at some of the pics taken by the NZ90 camera and it kinda falls short of my Canon S100 (also 2Meg Pix).

I think that the TG50 has a great feel to it, but I'm concerned with the lack of WiFi-ability and of course the larger screen of the clamshells look really cool.

Ah.. decisions, decisions. Let me know when you decide, it might help me make up mine as well.

Thanks.

i like mine, but it is heavy... i use the camera more than i thought i would... i'd like something lighter, but would not give one pixel from the screen... if you do not need a camera, or big screen, i'd check out the latest palm... there is more software support, and it uses sd instead of ms...

I have looked at the T|C, but it's not really the same as having a Sony CLIE. I also like the ability to swap MS's with my camera while away from my computer. I feel I just NEED a Sony.

Thanks for that though. ;)

dacmo,

I think I am leaning very much towards the TG. Just overall a better fit, so far. I know I will probably regret getting rid of the NZ right away, but who knows, maybe I won't. I do know that if the NZ isn't working for me in every way, it's probably just a waste in the long run, like EvilErnie expressed. I just feel I need something 'usable' for ME. I just think going to a basketball game or shopping mall and having my CLIE with me (not in the car) in case I need something from it would be something to look forward to, since right now I would not carry my NZ to some place like a sporting event or mall where I would not have a good place to store it besides my pocket.
Also, I don't think not having WiFiwith me all the time will bother me too much, since I usually am near a computer and the times I have found myself not near one, I had forgot my WiFi card. :)

1 more thing that's positive towards the TG:

I can share a cradle at home with my girlfriend's T665C! That way, I can synch at home and work without buying extra cables or cradles.

Why the TG? I'd get an NX before I'd use a ''small screen'' PDA....Decent camera, multiuse cf slot, good video, big screen, etc.

I would get the NX60.

Why? What makes it better? I had an NX70V before my NZ. Maybe I just don't want to 'go back' to something old.... hehe

maybe i would be better to just keep my NZ?

i mean, after using this TG for a few days so far, I find it easier to just grab and enter info anywhere. it's more compact and seems to have better ergonomics.
