Now that i actually went out and purchased the SJ-33, all i need to know is what are the 1st things i should install on my new Clie.
It doesnt matter if its freeware or not, i just need the basics to get started...like something that lists holidays on your date book..etc..
If anyone can include where to get them, it would be great.
Any suggestions would help...now i am getting anxious.

Well, everyone uses their Clie's in different ways for different purposes. I'm a teacher so I would install my Lesson Plan program first. We don't know who you are or what you do so we really can't suggest anything.
Seriously though. Why don't you just start with what is built in. Learn those first, learn what you like and what you don't like about the built ins. Then check out such websites as www.frewarepalm.com
www.handango.com
I guess even www.palmgear.com
The process of adding programs to your Clie is really sort of a personal one. You have to explore, download, try it out, delete, and explore some more.

I agree with the above, but I will also give you my personal opinions.
I'd get a program called "X-master" which allows you to use "hacks." Then I'd install "McPhling"...this allows you to switch between programs. It pops up a menu of the most recently used (as well as your 'favorites') when you do a certain grafitti stroke, hit a key or button, etc. VERY useful.
DateBk5 (www.pimlicosoftware.com) replaces my native calendar. It has several different views, multiple sized fonts, and is very cusomizable. Colored entries, templates, To Dos integrated with the calendar, icons. There's a trial period, check it out. Other people also like Agendus, which has similar features.
I think those are my "must haves" for an SJ user. Some other neat apps I use:
TimeCopy: keeps my time perfectly synced with my computer's, which is synced with the atomic clock.
Launch This: stops the OS from automatically going to the MS category when you switch memory sticks, so if you're in a program, you stay in that program until YOU want to exit.
ZLauncher (www.zztechs.com): WONDERFUL launcher replacement; mostly I like it b/c I've got an NR with virtual grafitti, so I can use it in fullscreen mode. Not sure how it'd look on a 320x320 screen, but plenty of people w/ SJs, TGs, use it.
Just to name a few...

Get a hack program (Hackmaster, etc) & some good hacks to improve your system. Easylaunch hack is a must as it will allow you to assign multiple applications to your buttons. Most importantly it allows you to setup a button that will start hotsync for you so you won't miss having a cradle. For example mine is set to start when you hold down the memo button for about 2 seconds.
There are lots of other good hacks too like:
Clearhack: gets rid of dotted underlines in memo, to-do & other applications
MiddleCapsHack: where you write in the Grafitti area determines whether or not the letters are capitalized.
PopClockHack: pops up a clock when you hold down a button then it disappears when you release the button, returning you to the application you were in.
McPhling: keeps track of recently used applications in a pop up menu, also offers a "go back" to the last used application with the stroke of your stylus
And many more!!!
