I'm sure this answer is somewhere. I've done some searches and read many of the threads then I mde the mistake of reading the user manual for the T665. I think one question based on an example will help me set this straight. This is my first sttempt at using the memory stick.
On the Visor Prism I had (for instance) My bible installed on the prism and the two translations I used were on the memory card module. I was able to tap on My bible and access the translations as if it were all on the prism.
Can I do this with the memory stick. Alternately do I have to have the app and the data files on the memory stick. I would appreciate any kick in the right direction either in the form of an answer or reference to another link. Thanks.
My ultimate goal is to have the apps such as My bible, palm reader, and Noah Lite on the Clie and the data bases such as the bible translations, ebooks and the dictionary data base on the memory stick, w;hich is the same way I had it set up on the prism.
As far as I know about the PalmReader, you can put it in MS under /Palm/Launcher directory. PalmReader can find the ebooks in MS under /Palm/Books.
Most of VFS aware apps can be put in MS under the same directory (/Palm/Launcher). Most of them do want to have their database in RAM.
I don't use NoahLite and bible in Palm so somebody else can help you on that. For dictionaries I use MSDict and Mi: D, both of which have set up to read their dictionary in MS since they are big (5-9 MB). I heard NoahLite is not VFS aware (then this could be old news), if that is true you may still can force it to read its database from MS by using MSMount (freeware) or PiDirect (shareware).

I have primers on my website about memory sticks and how to use them with apps. Each app expects its data files in a particular directory on the stick, and its documentation tells you where the data should go--usually under /Palm/Programs/ somewhere, but not always. MyBible expects the data in /Palm/Programs/MyBible/. Some apps just use /Palm/Launcher for their data directory. The answer isn't in the T665C docs, but individually in each apps docs. BTW, Noah Lite doesn't support card access, so its database must go in RAM/ROM or you need to use PiDirect II or MS Mount. I discuss those on my website.

Or you could use a program called 'PowerRun'.This software's special because it moves the Program to the external card, along with it's database files (Which would most of the time consume loads of space)

Just wanted to thank you for your responses. I'm just getting around to figuring it all out. Purchased PiDirect II and it works just like I wanted. The file manager allows you to move the database to the card. Then when you click on the app on the clie its runs just like its all on the clie. I noticed that some things are a little slower--like changing from one Bible translation to another in MyB ible, but its not that bad.
Tanker Bob, the information on your web sigt is very helpful.

So does this mean that when I use Clie Files to move the program (and i manually moved the dbs with it) that it leaves a copy on the palm?
Reason I'm asking is because I was down to about 1 meg free on my palm. I had to do a hard reset and when I set it all back up the way I thought I had it I had about 4 or 5 meg free on my plam. Just wondering about this. It could just be that it wasn't set up the same way or there was junk on there. But wanted to see about the move option in Clie Files. Thanks

I think something got lost in the translation. There are only a couple of ways you can move an application's data to the card and still have it found: 1) the program supports its data on the card natively, i.e., it supports VFS; 2) you use a special program like PiDirect II or MS Mount for read-only data, or PowerRun for data that changes, and move the data in the context of those programs; or 3) use ZLauncher's newly built-in support of PowerRun-like capability. All Clie Files does is move the files to the card with no regard for their being found later by the application. It's simply a file manager.
You may want to read the primer on my website on using memory cards.
