Any hopes for an 802.11b hardware option for the NR series?? I'm not understanding why there isn't a MS WIFI card yet...

Someone talked about a sled that could use a sony CF modem that was for the T series. Since nobody has the hardware or is willing to see if the ms wifi works with it on the NR, we don't know if its possible.

For my needs the BT ms works fine.

Bluetooth is neato and all, but I think 802.11b support would be of much greater use to more people. In my case, my apartment is setup with such a wireless network as is my campus. If I could just access the campus's wireless network with my NR70 I wouldn't have to lug around my laptop. It just boggles my mind to think that Sony would give a device bluetooth capabilities but not 802.11b. Oh well. I still love my Clie however. Even Sony can't be perfect... although they never cease to make me go "ohhhhhhhhhh". :)

I guess the only option is to use my cell phone. I was considering buying one of those cords to connect my cell to my Clie. Anyone have experience doing this??

I have one of the cable from supply net. It connects to my Nextel phone and works great.

I have one through supply net as well and it works well. My mobile service is through verizon, I use the slow connection but it only uses regular minutes. But, verizon also has a high speed network with 144kbps burst speed, I have not tried that yet.

Hmm, I'll have to try it out. I'll just use the slow connection by dialing in, I really only want something to check e-mail and perhaps get on AIM.

I did see the news article about the new finger-print Memory Stick. Grrr... They'll invest in a finger-print memory stick modual but not an 802.11b. Has sony gotten too good and "technologically advanced" for its own good?

It must be the marketing people.... like most, they live in fantasy land :D.

Ok, so a little searching around brought me to this...

http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/pega-cf70-review.html

The PEGA-CF70 is apparantly a sled to give the NR-70 a CF slot. It is only marketed in Japan though :(. Hopefully they will bring it to the US...

Also, I've been reading that they will soon have Wifi cards in the SD format... can we hope for a MS format too??

Well there is always this, but who knows how soon they will come out with a clie version. There is already a M505.

(Sigh)

I have been trying to make a driver for the Symbol CF Nic. Symbol has yet to get any specs to me and taking apart the driver that the Handera 330 uses has taken forevewr. Anyone had another brainstorms?

Is there a technical reason why you cannot put WiFi in something the size of a MS? If they can do it in a SD, you would think a MS would be possible??? I don't understand why there has been no noise about this big hole in the MS line-up??

I just spoke with Brando. They have a WiFi MS japanese version fot 139.00 US. It comes with both English and Japnese drivers. Our ship has come in.

Oh if only I had that kind of money to burn. For the total cost including that, it would have been cheaper for me to buy an NX.

Yikes! What's the battery life going to look like with the WiFi MS? Still, it sounds cool though. :)
