Just wondering if first of all it is possible to navigate this website say on something like a Nz90, and can you reply and post to threads on the website from the handheld?

I can, but the site is too slow to load on my Clie. That is why many members are hoping for a mobile edition that we can access.

Thanks to PDAFrance (http://www.pdafrance.com), there is actually a beta mobile version of the ClieSource forums. You can see it at:

http://www.cliesource.com/forums/?styleid=3

The menus are in french, and there is still a problem with the news forum. Caution though that if you visit the link above on your PC browser, because of cookies, you might not be able to go back to the regular view. To go back to the regular view use this link:

http://www.cliesource.com/forums/?styleid=1

Hope this is good news for some. :D

I primarily read ClieSource forums on my NX. I have bookmarked the NX forum and link directly in with NetFront. I have cookies and cache disabled and I rarely get the annoying 'Page to Large' error. I very rarely post with it, and when I do I show up as 'GUEST' (the cookies setting). All in all, I find it an acceptable way to read the forums when in other parts of the house away from the box in the kitchen and/or office (i.e. bedroom, living room, etc.).

Cheers,
Rich

Reggie, this is wonderful news...you need to sing this from the rooftops. I checked it out, and it looks great. Haven't tried it. Seems my WiFi is rusted up. ;) I'll play with it more tomorrow and see if I can surf the forums with my Clie!!! How exciting!!! Thanks so much:)

Mobile Cliesource looks amazing. This is exactly what I have been waiting for.

I have had little trouble surfing and posting at cliesource on my NX, but it is painfully slow, and the sideways scrolling can be a pain. This is very exciting!

here's hoping to a mobile english version :D Also, could you guys make the top banner 320 width, but the other stuff kept at 240 width? that would look more appealing.

Reggie

Actually, it's in 240 pixels since PPC users surf PDAFrance. :)

Those posts were mine:D

OK, I admit I have a few more gliches to work out.  Like how to not double post, how to log in, how to get my signature to work. Honestly, all I was trying to do was sign off, and blip-blip I was done before I wanted to be.

You can log in on the first page you get to. It's at the bottom under the list of all the different forums.

I hope most sites start utilizing this type of design for the wireless users out there. Nice & speedy w/ my NX and the Wifi, and a lot more faster using my cell phone dial-up (used to take forever because of images).

Would it be possible to make the content scale to the entire width of the screen (just like the big version of the forum does)? When viewed in NetFront with "zoomed out" view, the mobile page is just a small column on the screen. Scaled to full width, this would give a lot more text on screen.

patrickl, I changed the templates to fit the whole screen. Please check how it looks. While at it, I also changed some French words to English. :)

Reggie,

Your modifications look and work great. Now the tables stretch to fill the whole width of the screen, no matter what my zoom level is set to in Netfront. Fantstic!

Reggie

Glad it worked. There are still a lot of French messages but the main menus have been converted already. How is the speed by the way?

I just tried it out for the first time, and the speed is very good!!

Yes, the rendering time in Netfront is dramastically faster than the normal Cliesource page.

Our server currently doesn't support subdomains. If you want it shorter you can use: cliesource.com/mobile -- same number or characters. ;)

:D

Wasn't as much for my laziness as it was for the standard url form.

Now... to test clipping with Handstory.. :D!

You don't get a warning that you are not logged in (from the mobile version)? Actually I thought I was logged in.

How is the mobile forum getting along? it could use some updates.

I keep having problems logging in, so maybe a set of logon fields at the top? (problems as in that I'm never recognized when I enter the site)

Is any translation going on? Do you need help with that perhaps? If so, just sent me the language files and I'll translate it for you.

patrickl

In fact not just the mobile forum pages need to be translated, I'm receiving notification e-mails in french too!

I just browsed the site on my TT via BT. It looks real nice. I am using WebPro for a browser. I was not able to reply to a post. Whenever I selected the "reply" button I would be taken to a blank screen with "Untitled" as the description posted by my browser. The rest of the site seemed to work fine.

Is there a way to download files onto a device directly off the web?

patrickl

Is there a way to download files onto a device directly off the web? Can't you click on the link and start the download? NetFront does this, but I don't know WebPro that well. NetFront will download a ZIP file to the memeory stick and then CLIE Files can extract the ZIP.

Weird that you couldn't reply. I have had no problems with that. I only hate that cookies don't seem to work for me and that it will happily post the reply even when you are not logged in (so your name wont be on the post)

I have changed my bookmark for ClieSource to include my login data. So I'm always logged in now when I go to ClieSource on my Clie. Only problem now is that it doesn't work when I click on the URL in a mail received through CLIE Mail.

Yes, I always wonder why people claim that we don't need multitasking (or at least task switching) on a PalmOS PDA.

I use daMemoPad (http://muchy.com/review/damemopad.html).  It is a memo popup that allows you to write memos on a popup within any app.  You can use all editing features such as copy, paste, etc between the daMemoPad and the app you are in.  I use it a lot for writing reference material.

My japanese may be a bit rusty, but I can't get daMemoPad to work on my NX70. Is this OS5 compatible?
