Hi all!

I am interested in buying a TG50 to use for remote system management in combination with my Nokia 6310i (bluetooth) and SSH software.

Does anyone tried that combination before and if so what is your experience with it?

Does TG50 BT works smoothly with a Nokia 6310i ?

Thanks for any reply!

I don't think it does work that smoothly, I have had a little try and by 4-5 days will have a read of the manual and other things on web to see how far I go.

If you manage to do something like surf web with 6310i then let me know.

They swap address and notes but nothing else at moment!

thanks

after a little web research and a lot desperate trys I finally managed to connect to th 6310 and surf the web...

first step has been adding the phone as a trusted BT-device:
I found this sony FAQ site and followed the instructions

[url]http://www.clie-link.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/webcgi.exe/,/? St=42,E=0000000000012706714,K=5667,Sxi=6,Case=obj[
/url](6310)

Description:

How I can add my mobile phone Nokia 6310 as trusted device with the MS bluetooth?

Solution:
Tap Pref and then tap Connection.
Create a new connection - Give it a name (e.g. Nokia 6310).
Tap Connect to modem via - Bluetooth Device.
Select the connection you have just created.
the following message appears: Do you want to add Nokia 6310 to your trusted service list?
TapYes - Enter a passkey (e.g. 1).
Tap OK.
An error message appears : Unable to add Nokia 6310 to your trusted device list.
Tap OK.
In Edit connection, you should see Nokia 6310.
Tap OK.
Now go to Network and configure the settings for the Nokia 6310 connection - The first time you tap Connect, your mobile phone will prompt you to accept the connection then ask for passkey.

Next I downloaded the latest phone drivers - both the sony as well as the original palm - I donīt know which one actually has done it.

Then create a network and connection preset with sonys coma tool:

The init strg which worked for me is: at+cgdcont=2,"IP","internet.t-d1.de";+cgQreq=1,3,4,3,7,1
of course you have to change "internet.t-d1.de" to the GPRS start-site of Your mobile phone provider and You have to enter the correct IP in the network settings. The phone number to initiate a GPRS modem connection is *99#.

With these settings I can connect with no problems and surf the web with netfront (so far) and manage my mail wt clie mail.

Hope You find these things helpful, let me know if it works for You...

I heard that Nokia & BT is not a great match at the moment. I have a Sony T68i phone which supposedly matches well with the TG50.

Surfing and mailing (with Snappermail) works very well over BT & GPRS.

I'm not too impressed with SSH though, Mocha SSH failed to work and Topgun SSH (which does work) uses a terrible font. Doing remote management is rather uncomfortable.

Which is a pity because it worked well on my old Nokia 9210.

Does anyony know of a better SSH client or a way to make Topgun's font more palatable?

Hi all!

Thanks all for your replies!
Based on your information i have decided not to buy the TG50 (with pain in my heart, because i really like the layout and the keyboard).

But functionality is for me the most important issue (opposed to perhaps most PDA users ...:-))
Thanks again all!

Upgrade your phones OS to version 5.5 and you'll find a number of BT issues resolved. I had to do this to get the BT to talk to my MS BT and the BT on my car.

I tried a number of settings and spent two days trying to surf the net on my clie. I was on the verge of throwing my wretched NZ90 out of the window but luckily I found this website
http://www.webtogo.de/de/page.asp?p=261&loc=1&fid=208&action=New

All I did was install the software and it worked first time. I can now surf the net with my Sony NZ90, via a bluttooth connection from my Nokai 6310i.

Cheers!
