I have a new SJ30, and before loading any third party aps i want to install Uninstall Hack. The notes that come with Uninstall stated that it does not monitor files that are HotSynced to the device. Apparently this feature is available on Uninstall Manager, which is OS5 based, and obviously not useable on my device. Now, I'm new to all of this, but isn't a HotSync the only way to install any files to my Clie? If so, and Uninstall doesn't monitor them, what good is it? Since this ap has received great reviews, I'm sure I must be misunderstanding something. Can anyone clear this up for me? Thanks.

Hi gotr6... Welcome to ClieSource! :) You can install apps on your Clié in several ways (send'em directly from the pc to the device via IR, copy them on the MS using MS Import and then move from MS to RAM, use 3rd party apps like SyncWizard, etc.). Having said this, it is a *good* thing that UninstallHack doesn't monitor the files installed by HotSync -- otherwise all the files would look like they were HotSync databases and not apps theirselves. Not monitoring the HotSync does not mean that these apps are not monitored too -- it's just HotSync that is not monitored. Hope this was helpful!

Yes fenris77, your reply was VERY helpful. Thanks! As a follow up, is any of the methods of installing aps preferable? If I am to understand correctly, HotSync installs its own files along with whatever else is being installed. Is it a problem that these files aren't monitored? Would there be a reason to monitor them?

....still learning!
