Zlauncher vs Appshelf

I have been using Zlaucher for about 5 years and not only pretty much mastered it's functions but also changed the look of my palm many many times. It is only so many looks you can get over time with one launcher. Now I started with Appshely because I was wowed with BrentDC 's new Open Mako skin that only work with Appshelf. I have been reading through old thread as far back as 2005 regarding Appshelf. I have read some Pro and Cons that was mentioned back then with an older version of Appshelf. I was wondering what do people think now who have coverted. I wanted to start a new thread with these two top launchers. I think Appshelf should give thanks to BrentDC for his very nice skin that coverted a couple of users. :)

Well, if you like bloat, sluggishness and a bit of difficulty, I'd say stick with ZL. AppShelf is OhSoMuch faster than ZL :)
My experiences with ZL have always been headaches.. It's so hard to use in comparison with AppShelf, so much more sluggish, I'm glad I've for ApSh

Thanks for the reply but how do you create "shortcuts" on Appshelf with Zlaucher you would press on the icon and the pop up menu would give you that choice

Shortcuts to what? AppShelf has a really powerful category system, that will let you choose filetypes, etc to list and have tem automagically launch the associated program.

What I mean is that if I have a game on in RAM I transfer it to the card but the prc file remain in RAM. I could use some help in launching those programs from the category section

Use the card category. It will list all apps in /PALM/Launcher, and when you launch it, copy the PRCs to RAM, then when the app exits, re-export the files :)

That's the wrong category; use the card category, not the custom one. The custom one lets you set a custom category that only displays files with a certain type and creator.

If I have this set up right it copies to the RAM on statup although it does not say that it just says "copying" and on exit it say "creating file" :o

I've used Zlauncher for some time as well and I'm curious about Appshelf. How hard was it to switch over? I have so many short cuts already with Zlauncher that it looks like it would be a real headache. Did you just start from scratch?

I have been at it for about two straight weeks. I searched and found post dated 2005 regarding the operation of Appshelf those were helpful. The English translation was solved with a English overlay that was posted. Now I getting to the point where I am going to finalize my theme. I have BrentDC's skin loaded which I will use. This skin you see here is pretty much from the site.
