How many times have you dropped the PDA?

No times.
I broke a Psion 5 like that once. Now I'm very careful.

Mine fell out of my jacket pocket with no protection onto the concrete garage floor. Fortunately it survived with only minor scratches on the one edge. It's been working fine since and the mishap ocurred months ago. I will say that it is something that I wouldn't recommend for your Clie :D.

Dropped my NX-60 twice in as many months. First time was when the cat knocked it off the desk. That time was a panic, because the Hold button inadvertently got set on. The other time, it was unfolded, and I dropped it flat on its back from about 3 feet up. I'm trying to be more careful now.

I was getting out of my car. clie in the pocket...stupid thing slides right out and lands right on the top right corner....right on the garage concrete.
Cracked it good....right across the power button and the hinge....still mad at myself.

My most spectacular drop was with my old Palm Pilot Personal. It was sitting on a pile of books on my car, I picked up the books and the Palm Pilot flew off hitting the parking lot. Both back panels flew off, the batteries shot out in different directions, and even worst the memory board with the ROM and RAM ended up several inches away.
After gathering up all the pieces I got to my desk and started reassembled my trusty Palm. To my surprise after I put it back together I turned it over and hit power button, there was the familiar Palm OS 2.0 launcher screen, and all it needed was a hotsync to restore my data. Better yet there wasn’t even a mark on it.
I am much more careful (almost paranoid) with my almost 2 week old T665.

Mine did a triple gainor with a twist and a tuck from ten meters. The judges gave it an 8.5. I thought it deserved at least a 9.

If it didn't break, it deserves a 10!

Dropped my NR once that I remember very clearly, and I think there was another time, but can't remember how i dorpped it that time. Still works fine (a few scratches, use to have dead pixels).

I dropped my Palm IIIc from about the height of my hip... once... it was extremely damaged... but still worked... just had to squeeze it to make it hotsync.
Anyway thats why I bought a new PDA. I fear dropping my NX so much that it has not happened yet. I even use the little leash for it. I hope it never gets away from me.
Heres a question... of those of you who have dropped your clie... how many of them broke? Of the ones that broke... how far did they fall onto a hard surface? Also... how tit they break? (i.e. screen... case cracks... complete cliemageddon... etc)
just seem to be lots of palm drops here... few clie drops with descriptions.
Im kinda wondering what to expect if i do drop my clie... since it has the camera and nicer screen... etc...
thanks

I've never dropped my NX70v, though I did have a door slammed into my thigh with it in the pocket (the Clie took the full force of that blow, but is fine and doesn't have any cosmetic blemish from it since it was in my pocket. This happened while exitting a restroom.
As for my S300, I have dropped it onto hard tile in a restaurant entrance once, and while it got a small scratch on the silver paint, the unit has no functional defect from the incident.

I dropped my 'naked' N760 onto gravel once. Got dinked up a little . . . STILL works perfectly.
I bought an EB flip case for it that day.
I've never dropped my NX. I use the 'leash' as a precaution too, and I've had a case for it from day 1. If it goes out of my house, it's in the case.

I have been real lucky, and very paranoid.
and never dropped it yet.
But I am always very wary when I have it in my pocket, and people bang into me, or a door closes on it.
I did dorp my 2 way paer, and even though it was enclosed in a case, the lcd broke, and the fall was only from my hip, i Was really suprised and said man if my pager will break if my nx70 ever dropped good chance of the screen breaking too.

Some @#(@#!-waiter in a restaurant retrieved my coat for me...upside down... my Palm IIIe fell out as he approached me...the window cracked completely. It sux to live in the Netherlands in these cases, coz u can't sue...I got home with nothing *GRRRRRRRRRRR*
My N770C fell out of my breast-pocket once when I was fiddling with my moped. I saw it coming from miles away, it fell like 60cm~2ft. flat on the frontcover...no damage whatsover.
Never dropped my NX70v and never will...I also use the spiffy lil wrist-strap sony included. It looks fashionable too :)

I dropped my old Visor Prism. As far as I can tell the digitizer was the only part to break.
After that, I made the real mistake. I bought an HP Jornada to replace the Visor. It wasn't long before I put that thing in a desk drawer and bought a Clie....

I dropped my old N710 on the floor of an elevator while trying to get it into the Vaja case I had. The floor was made of granite and had no carpet, and the LCD cracked (the digitizer was OK tough). 160 bucks to fix...
I haven´t dropped my NX70 yet...

I have dropped my NX70 twice before the new Sena case came in. Thumbs up to Sena with the new secure belt clip and great padding. No harm done in the drops, little scratches.

Never dropped my Clie(s).
I dropped my very first PDA from almost 8 feet up (a Palm V, purchased near launch) -- the edge of the casing chipped, but otherwise, no damage.

No one has yet to drop off an NZ90 to my place:D
I've dropped the NX60 when in the sony case multiple times - for example getting out of the car with multiple items - no problems yet - let's just say, I'm glad the sony case has somewhat of a cushion - and my worst drops were with my handspring visor prism - multiple drops even w/o a case, and no damage - I must be lucky!

I dropped my old NR70 half a dozen times, twice on asphalt. Just a few scratches and nicks, everything still worked.
I dropped my new NX70 just once - knocked it off the table. No marks, it all works, but I had a heck of a time finding the MemStick! It launched on impact, and landed 10 feet away! I went out the next day and bought a case.

Dropped my NX70V about five times, usually onto carpet, so no damage. But I've dropped it twice onto hardwood flooring. Few minor scratches. No true damage to my device.
***Word of advise. Never, never, never tell the people at Best Buy that you have dropped you device. Deny it till the very end when you go to "upgrade."***
No drops here with my month old (and 2 days) nx70v gunmetal.

2 days after getting my NX60, I dropped it in the airport when they announced boarding for my flight. Fortunately, no damage. Memory stick went flying, though. Pre-flight check.

I dropped my NR once and previously, my Visor a few times. It seems as though my 'drop rate' decreases as the price of the PDA goes up... I finally got my NX tonight and it came with a 'leash.' At first I thought it was a joke but after thinking about it (I don't have a case and 'this is it' untill the brick (NZ) gets a face lift...), now it's on the NX so...

I will only admit to dropping two PDAs since both of those resulting in returns...
Haven't dropped the NX although I had a close call at the zoo with my daughter. She wanted to see the picture I had just taken and grabbed it out of my hand and then almost dropped it! I knew I should have put the strap on...
