How can I watch movies in a *.mqv format on my NR? Can I get the movie player app somewhere, or is it OS 5 only? Or, is there a program I can use so that I can watch them in Kinoma?

thanks

If you updated QuickTime (which means you can view MQV files in your PC), then just use Kinoma Producer to convert it to Kinoma format is ok.

As I know that there is no MoviePlayer for OS 4. So you must use Kinoma to view it.

Anything other than Kinoma Producer? I'm not sure it's worth $30 on top of the price of more MS's just to watch movies on my Clie...

Then just use gMovie, you can try to use PictureGear Lite to convert .mqv files to gMedia format (as PictureGear Lite same as Kinoma Producer which uses QuickTime for video processing, but I'm not sure for this).

I'm not sure gMovie is included in NR or not (it is included in other OS4 CLIEs). And quality of video in gMovie is not as good as Kinoma.

Yeah, it's included. PictureGear will convert them? Hmmm...they didn't show up when I tried the first time.

I haven't used PictureGear Lite for a long time and I'm using Sony VAIO with PictureGear, so I forgot the actual steps... :)

It should be in Tools menu. You can find somethings like "Install to CLIE in next hotsync" and "Install to memory strick". You can select the resolutions but no other conversion settings avaliable.

Remember to change *.MQV file extension to *.MOV. Because there is no such extension when PictureGear Lite was out. It can shows *.AVI, *.MPG and *.MOV video file extensions only.

Looks like it might work; something I'll have to try later tonight when I've got time (gotta take my laptop with me now...)

thanks again...
