View Full Version : Yahoo killed my Address book conduit!!
Has anybody used Yahoo's Sync program to sync your address book with your yahoo email's address book?
Have you ever uninstalled it?
I believe this is why my address book conduit dissapeared!
I've uninstalled Palm Desktop and reinstalled several times now, and still no luck. I can't believe it!
How can I fully uninstall, so I can correctly install my Palm Desktop?? Anybody know?
Anybody had any luck removing their Yahoo Sync conduit and still having their address book too?
I've looked all over Yahoo for an email address to hit for questions regarding their software, but nothing anywhere on Yahoo. With all the services that Yahoo has, customer service is Non-existant!
Thanks,
LeeD

I uninstalled Yahoo's Intellisync successfully even though I experienced exactly the same thing, which uninstall & reinstall Palm Desktop works, from another issue.
Not sure if it makes a difference, but what OS are you using?
I'm running XP.

I'm running Windows2000 with PalmDesktop 4.1.
Are you sure that you have completely uninstall PalmDesktop before you reinstall it back? If you're sure about it, you can also use other 3rd party addressbook replacement that doesn't use built-in addressbook conduit, such as Dataviz's Beyond Contact, etc.

If you mean the Address Book conduit is missing from the Hotsync Manager, try the method from the following link. It worked for me.

Thanks,
Yes, I tried that a few days ago, but no luck. I was soooo happy to see it too, thinking I'm finally going to fix this. Thought, well, maybe rebooting will help. nope.
aaronchow,
I'm was thinking that maybe I'm not fully uninstalling it too, but how much more can you uninstall, than running the XP Install/uninstall program? I've been thinking now to also delete the directory too, and everything inside, but just save my address/scheudal/todo/memo files. Then try to reinstall again....
I'm hesitant to try it though, because Uninstall "should" work, as it works for everything else. Also, there HAD to be other people who've used Yahoo, dropped it, and had similar issues like me. The problem is they had, but they also have been able to recover. I was hoping to be able to recover w/o doing something non-standard. If this is true, then something is especially fundimentally wrong with "my" system/software/computer. (corupt OS, corupt hd, hd problems, OS problems, etc..)
If anybody else has any other ideas, PLEASE let me know.
Thanks for all the suggestions above.

I ran into a similar problem last night. I reinstalled the yahoo connect, set it up to sync with yahoo, then indicated that it shouldn't sync with yahoo. I didn't have time to remove yahoo interconnect yet, but it seems to sync with the right thing now.
On another note, that I didn't think would happen was, all my Palm contacts that got synced to my Yahoo Address book, later got deleted from my Yahoo Address Book, so I'm left with my original Yahoo contacts in my Yahoo Address book....
