On the topic of false promises, the JVM is still available for download as of about 10 minutes ago. It's a big after the 12th.

After the firmware update, none of my *three* backups (BackupMan, NVBackup, RscBackup) restore successfully. They all cause continuous reboot. User beware - you may have to reinstall everything after the update.

On treocentral there was a post that to get mp3 ringtones you have to open blazer and use file:///myringtone.mp3 then it should pass it to the sounds app

Dmitry,

I'm a SkinUI user and it looks like the way you calculate a device ID has been affected by the 680 ROM upgrade. I'm being prompted for a new key and the ID in my device now is not the same as the one held at palmpowerups.com.

I'll not pester you for a new code until you've had a chance to look into it.

Thanks,

Andrew

Funnily enough, I had problems with restoring from HotSync whereas I didn't have any trouble restoring from RescoBackup. The HotSync restore froze at the blue PalmOS screen on reboot.

YMMV.

Same for me but with PowerDigi. UnCache is fine, though.

Cant get my 680 to update :'( "Connection to device failed" error after 1st reset (hotsync works fine).

Swapped USB ports, rebooted etc

Dont really want to do a hard reset if I can help it (dont know what files to exclude on a selective restore from NVBackup).

Will see if an install of Hotsync software on another PC will enable me to do the update - oh the joy of it all :)

mine restored fine with PowerBackup

If the ringtones are "accepted" by the audio player or the sound prefs, I guess they are converted just as MiniTones does. This eats memory. A problem if you have tons of big mp3 different ringtones. So, MiniTones does the same, easier and on a 650 too. :)

The way you import the mp3s with the 680 upgrade is not easy (much less intuitive) for newbies, considering there were no instructions posted...

From looking at other sites, a soft reset before starting the update seems to cure this.

is there no way around using blazer?

You could hack up some app to send the link to blazer fairly easily...
It'd be cooler if only Explorer supported plugins... :-/

well, the format that are stored in is simple..no need for blazer or links
juts wondered if an app already existed that does this, or should i hack one together

Thanks! The app works fine on a treo 650, although minitones has a more friendly UI

Once an mp3 has been stored as a ring tone, is there a way to remove it? Just noticed that it takes up a lot of Internal Memory space.

Open Sounds ->Manage ->select ringtone and click delete

Just what I'm looking for. Thanks so much!
