When the NYT went away using Isilo I went into withdrawl. Well I worked around for a while and have found a semi-automatic method of getting the material down to the palm.

Here is the link to my page that describes the process.

Any feedback is welcome. Hope the process makes sense. It is not as complex as it looks. Once it is in place I can save each of the 6 sections that I read each day in a few minutes.

Basically what you do is bring up the text version and select a page, say National. Select to view source and strip out the junk, modify each of the article url's to point to the printer friendly version and save the html file and process with Isilox.

Heres a much easier way using Isilos filters.

1. The file attached is the international section.

2. The file size is 2-3 megs daily with the pictures.  If you want it smaller you can disable the pictures for a 200-400k file or reduce the picture size in the graphics options page for a variable size.

3. All the advertisements have been cut. :D

3. I use IsiloXC and Windows scheduler so the file is ready to sync when I wake up.  On my NX it takes about 30-45 seconds total.

4. I personally do not reccomend hotsynching to MS a 3meg file because it takes so long, though load times from MS on the NX is just fine.  If you do d/l to MS use an auto hotsyncher.

5. To create the filter I go to the main page im starting with (here the Int'l section) and wave the mouse over all the links, sometimes even clicking them.  Everything I dont want I exclude.  Wildcards and literal exclusions both have their place though often wildcards are better. You only have to do this once to set it up but you may have to do it periodically if your file gets a little bloates since the Times often adds new features, links and sections.

There you have it.  The complete section trouble free.  Feel free to use the attached file as a starting point or a completed work, though its been a while since I cleaned up the exclusions last -- besides you may want some of the stuff I cut out.
