Well, I fumbled on the method to use TomTom 5 with the CC5 car cradle. It all happened when the car charger for my car cradle stopped working and I bought a TOMTOM 5 bluetooth navigation package to check out. Since I use the TH55 E with bluetooth, the last version TOMTOM made that still supported the CLIE was 5.12. This navigation package comes bundled with a bluetooth GPS unit.
I used the TOMTOM package and I'm very happy with the software over the Streetfindr software on the CC5 cradle.
A couple of weeks ago I found out Dan T had a car charger to sell for the CC5 so I bought it and now the cradle is back up and operating.
Now, to get TOMTOM5 working with the cradle I had to use all the hardware provided - the car cradle, the TOMTOM5 bluetooth GPS, and TH55E. You will not get the car cradle software to allow the cradle's wired GPS to work with the TOMTOM software. What you have to do is start up the CC5 as normal. (I prefer to leave home preference in CLIE Organize Prefs. I also have TOMTOM set up to launch off my third button using multilauncher found in the freeware site here.)
I turn on the TOMTOM GPS mouse and then after starting my music on the cradle start up the TOMTOM navigator software. It recognizes the bluetooth GPS and responds. The only interference I seem to get from the car cradle is the inability to receive the voice commands, to me this is negligible. I can still use all the renavigation and route planning settings in TOMTOM.
