 How are you all using these kind of cards in the TX. I had some pictures on my cell phone and with an adapter transfer pics to my TX. But how about programs?? Never thought of it before

What do you mean? A Micro SD Card will need an adaptor to be read by a Tx. What about programs? What type of photo files does your phone produce? If JPG files or something that a Tx can read, you should be in business. I've taken JPG files off my Nikon camera and showed them on my Tx. The only problem is that the JPG files are huge. Thus they are very slow to display.

I do use an adapter. I guess I am asking can all files be downloaded onto a microSD card ie: pdb etc..

I would guess they can, but what kind of phone do you have? Or, are you just wanting to use it for backup? I don't understand where you are going with this.......

Some Palm applications can be run from external memory, some cannot (or at least not w/o help with 3rd party solutions). External memory (SD, miniSD, microSD, etc. -- depending on your device) can store files much like a hard drive or flash drive, but your Palm device may or may not be able to access those files depending on whether or not you have an application that can handle them. There may be other limitiations, as well.
Your posts are pretty cryptic. We could provide more information to you if you would tell us what you're trying to accomplish.
By the way, I prefer microSD cards over mini and regular SD cards because, with adapters, I can use them in multiple devices. But with memory continually dropping in price, as well as the advent of high capacity cards requiring different readers, I'll buy whatever is affordable and available at the time to meet a more immediate need.

I am sorry. I am at work. Basically I see microSD cards that are >4GB. Will they work in a TX and all my music and my medical data can be downloaded and accessed with Zlaucher like a regular SD card. It seems people only use regular size SD cards. It is hard to fine a 4GB SD card nowadays.

The more I thought about it. It should work the same. Even if their were a larger microSD greater than a 4GB it would not work just as a regular size would not work.

If there is a microSD card that is larger than 4gb, and still not SDHC, you could see it work correctly on a palm device with a fat32 driver (found on palm TX's/lifedrives, new treos -- dmitry has also made a fat32 driver for older palms)
I have never heard of an 8gb non sdhc card for standard SD, but that doesnt rule out the possibility that a 8gb microsd exists
I have a 1gb microSD in my palm TX (with adapter :D) and it works like a regular sd card.
a 1gb microSD sandisk (based on vfsmark) is slower than a 1gb SD sandisk card. You can asume that anything as large as a 4gb microSD card would be extreamly slow.

I'd just like to reiterate a point cms made -- high-capacity, or SDHC cards will not work on the TX, so be careful what you get. Also, 4GB SD or microSD cards sometimes perform better if formatted with 32k cluster size, which you can do on your PC.

this also is true with all SD cards 4gb in size, though 16k clusters sometimes will work as well as 32k clusters. people should test their cards at 16k clusters to see if this appys to their SD cards, at 16k clusters you give less slack to small files, thus, you can gain more space with 16k than with 32k.
the default for fat32 will format your card in 4k clusters, you need to specify in the cmd consol to format in 16/32k clusters :D
Yes- DO NOT USE SDHC CARDS, THEY WILL NOT WORK IN ANYTHING OTHER THAN A NEW TREO

Does anyone prefer using MicroSD over Regular SD if so what are the pro's and cons :)
i plan to get a 2gb micro sd (comes with adapter to normal sd card size) for tx. reason being i can use the micro sd card on other devices like phone or camera as manufacturers of phone/camera are producing devices that use micro sd these days.
anyone had issues using 2GB micro sd (w/ adapter) on their tx?
Nothing other than the obvious speed hit.

Speed Hit
There's anothrt thread on here from a week or so back talking about using 4GB+ uSD cards in an adapter -- the adapter causes a slowdown compared to an SD card of the same capacity and read/write specs.
